  7. Hi, I'm not an expert or anything on eyes, but I have had good luck with walleyes this time of the year off Everleigh Point and Bull rock point since you are launching from Chaumont Bay. I'm sure more experienced fishermen on here might point you in some other directions also.
  8. One of my friends went out to the shipping lanes yesterday and tried his luck with silvers. He was fishing stackers at 75 to 95 ft using green flasher fly combos, had 4 releases but no fish. Then he lower his stackers and had a fish on, but as he handed the rod over to his friend on-board they lost it. No more fish the rest of the morning so they headed back to fish lake trout of stony in the trenches. He said they only saw two other boaters out there in the morning besides them. Have the salmon not moved into the shipping lanes that much yet or are they somewhere else? We are hoping to go back out him and I next week Monday,Tuesday or Wednesday if they indeed are out in the lanes.
  9. Thanks L&M I was thinking condensation also but wanted to make sure while I had part of the engine torn down. I get the new freeze plugs from NAPA in the morning so i can possibly get it back together after work tomorrow night. Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I have an older MFG Caprice Classic 21ft cuddy with the inline 6 mercruiser 165. The boat has sat for a couple years without use but has been ran every year with the water muffs on it. Last summer I did not get it in the water also due to health issues but now I'm doing much better. The winter before last the snow was so heavy on my cover that it collapsed down onto the engine cover area. I started the boat last summer with the muffs but didnt run it that long. This summer I rebuilt the carburetor already and it fired right up and ran nice and smooth but noticed a small water leak on back side of the intake/exhaust manifold. I also pulled the dipstick and found a milky residue in the oil. Water is getting in the oil somewhere. I pulled the exhaust manifold to check there an see if I had a crack or bad gasket but gasket looks good but did find a freeze plug that rusted through causing the water leak. Is it possible that the milky oil is because of condensation of the motor sitting without use for few years??? There wasn't a drastic change in oil level after running the engine for at least 15 minutes. I did put an engine flush solution in the oil and ran it for 5 minutes then drained the oil. I have new freeze plugs on order and replacing all of them while it is apart. Any marine mechanics out there with any thoughts or advice??? Thanks

  13. Cabela's has the Hummingbird cxi HD combo on sale right now for only $199.99. It appears this GPS combo does not have the new down imaging ,but I am curious how much of an importance this really is? I have not used one of the new DI sonars yet so I am new to this new technology. Anyone have any opinions or experience with these please give me some insight on this. Currently I have an older Hummingbird Matrix 77c with gps but I wouldnt mind getting something newer that is not outdated like mine. Mine still works great for what I use it for but I also dont want to spend a lot of money getting something new right now so the $199.99 for the 688cxi HD sounded pretty good!! Thanks guys for any advice!
  14. Thanks Fishtails! I do have a course plotted on my GPS that was used by my buddy when I was out there with him a few years back. We stayed back away from the wall and done an oval pattern around that area. I have been out there 5 or 6 times with him over the years, so I guess I'm not entirely new to the fishing just the idea of out there fishing with my own boat.
  15. Great thanks Charlie! Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Hi guys! New to fishing for Kings and was told the shipping lanes are the place to be late June until 3rd week of July. Has anyone been out there yet to try it and see if the kings are staging yet? Just got some mag 10s to put on the boat and hope to give it a whirl this year. I have been out there before with my buddies boat but not in my own boat so hoping for any advice or assistance from any of the pros on here that are willing to give some information like which spoons are better and flies? Thanks, Bob
  17. Here is a picture of a nice walleye we caught earlier this year trolling near Everleigh Point on Lake Ontario. It was caught on my friends boat in about 20-25 FOW
  18. Hi guys! I decided to join a forum and learn more about fishing from the more seasoned expert fishermen on here. I live in Dexter NY area and have two boats. They are nothing fancy or expensive by all means. My bigger boat is an older 1974 MFG caprice classic 21Ft cuddy set up for fishing. The other is a smaller 1986 Sea sprite 17' open bow. I love fishing and hoping to have more time on the water in my up coming years to gain more knowledge in fishing for walleyes, lake trout and the king salmon. Most of the time in the past I have always went with friends on their bigger boats. I want to figure out which lures works the best for each of the types of fish and how far back from the boat and if I need to use fluorocarbon and all the specifics. So if I ask dumb questions or post silly things its because I'm still learning. Most of my experience has been in smaller lakes but now that I live next to lake Ontario I like to launch from Henderson harbor and go out to the shipping lanes or the trenches for salmon. I have yet to experience spring lake trout with my boat but maybe this next coming spring. I love walleye fishing and troll near Everleigh Point and south Shore Rd, but still learning what works for walleye also. I also enjoy ice fishing and hunting as my favorite sports.
  19. Thanks pap! This is good information I will have to try the j-plugs and flatfish lures I have to see if I can catch one of those in the river. It may be a challenge this year with the new bridge construction taking up some of the channel maybe?? I am curious if using the regular flashers and spoons will work also as you would normally out on the main lake?
