  1. How many Saiff boats are in that area ?  I was concerned it is fairly narrow in there and 6 other boats floating around in there,  I might just work North or South out of Stoney.

I believe he has 8 and they have no problem cutting you off but for the most part everyone plays nice. I've fished by the salmon river where it was a lot worse. The only reason I keep going back to the trench is I like to catch Kings. Most of time I fish by association Island with not a boat around me and have limited out quickly in warmer water.

  2. So I have always wondered about this... Anytime I raise/lower my riggers I always have to adjust the rod/reel to match. How does being able to raise/lower from your seat benefit you, if you have to go back and adjust the rod/reel to match? Do you keep the drag loose on your reels or not keep a lot of tension on the rod when you set it? Always thought it was a cool feature but never seemed very practical to me?
Were I fish near Mexico the bottom doesn't change too quickly so I'll leave them a little loose and take up the slack every once and a while. It's good exercise [emoji123]

  3. I really like mine love being able to change depth from my seat.. as far as the bottom tracking you can + or - depending on you ball weight. The only issue I had was my ball kept letting out line on my bottom tracking till the cable got messed up then I figured out my transducer cable became unplugged [emoji3061]

  4. Make sure you clean the thick, sticky factory grease from the entire drag stack including the main drive gear and relube everything with Cal’s drag grease and also reorient the spring washers otherwise you won’t be happy even with the new drag washers. Let me know if you have questions.

  5. Take that money and buy the Raymarine 3D it's almost not fair[emoji16]

I have. And it worked great. I have a 15lb ball on it so there isn’t much blow back. Also used the jiggen mode and set it for 3ft jigs in 5min intervals. That little action on the ball has been giving me good results. I love the optimum. Definitely made a mistake returning the other two to replace my mag 10HS’s

  6. Did you use your bottom tracking on your new downriggers for the Lakers

Fished untill 11;00.  Took 6 lakers. 2 of them came on yellow dew mag deathtrap pullin a mag bullfrog gambler rig.  First time running a deathtrap.  Much less drag then cowbells and there’s definitely a place for them in my laker arsenal.  I quit targeting lakers after the 6th fish cane in.  I’m  Itchin to hear a screamin drag so I packed in the laker gear and set a 6 rod spread with spoons and FF’s and bumped the speed up to try and target the fish I’ve seen in the 80ft area.  Trolled an hour without a bump and called it quits. Got somemore west winds in the forcast. Maybe next weekend I can get my first brown of the season.

  7. I run one of my depth finders tilted back and the other one straight down and don't see alot of distance change between the two

Hello Frogger, i think you would like to use FH to validate blowback by chart value vs. FH reading. I think its a good idea to find how accurate your chart calculations. But as Jonson mentioned dont run it near the bottom if you dont want to lose it. Also use Jonson recommended method - tilt one of transducers up so it will detect your weight (for better reflection you can wrap your weight in aluminium paper), and attached aslo FH. In this scenario you will be able to determine delta reading from your sonar vs FH. Try this method on different depths so you can created your own chart.
