  1. I have a place in CV out near Grenadier and Fox islands. A couple of years ago I took up chasing musky with many great suggestions from the guys in this forum. So far nothing in the boat yet but have had a couple on. I retired the beginning of May so time is no longer an excuse. I have a good boat ( 19 1/2 crestliner)  and most anything that might be needed out there. I also know the structure around here pretty well from chasing walleye. So..if anyone wants to jump in the boat let me know! This end of Lake Ontario is pretty volatile so days when all options are available are few and far between. Based on the theory that many of the slr lunge summer in the lake and move into the river in the fall I have a goal to spend some time out by charity shoal and pigeon island. Awesome structure out there. Just need the weather to cooperate.

  2. It shows about 925 hours but I think that is inflated by about 100 hours due to me leaving the ignition on 1#. To my knowledge everything seems solid. It was last run late last sept. Someone asked about the teak..it looks like the prev owner put a varnish on it that is coming off. I’m going to see what some teak oil does for it. Trailer in good shape.

  4. This past Sat there were still a lot of females in there spawning by the parking lot. Up above there were still a lot of big northerns. … This is very late! the northerns are usually long gone by now as well as the big female eyes. That speaks to how cold the spring has been. Something else new in there looked to be common shiners spawning up by the dam. Ive never seen that before. It flooded out good with Sundays rain but I'm sure there'll be much to see when it goes down.

  5. Hello!

I’m boat shopping and one I’m looking is a 2011 with a merc 150 opti max direct injection 2 stroke on it. It’s has pretty low hours from what I understand. I’ve been focused on getting something with a 4 stroke motor. Can someone tell me what to expect different between the  opti max vs a newer 4 stroke 150? That would include comparing performance, fuel usage and dependability...

    Thanks! Paul A.

  7. My buddy and I just spent 3 1/2 days fishin out of Kirks Cove cottages on Big Gull lake. Due to crazy winds we'll call it 2 days fishing. We left real happy! Between us we boated 33 eyes... with the slot being 16"+ to 19"+ there were 3 unders and 6 over the slot. Most fell into the 18" range which are just excellent eating. I got one fat 27 incher ... a bit over 7 lbs ..  that was a beautiful fish. By lake Ontario standards pretty small but on BG that's big. The fish there are beautiful dark and yellow from the brackish water.. and as I mentioned great eating for the table theyre as good as you'll find.  My buddy fished mostly floating jigs with a leech and I pretty much exclusively cast 1/4 oz jigs with twister tails and leech...all in about 10 - 15 foot of water.  2 very diff methods that gave equal results... 17 for me 16 for him. My favorite way to take walleye by far. Jim and Claire run a great place there at Kirks Cove. This was our 2nd year... I see it being an annual thing if not more.
