Most info I've found says the late fall is your best chance to catch a giant up there. The season ends December 15th on the St. Lawrence though.

Awesome. That first one is a fatty.

I use saltists and they have a little nub on the spool. I tie a little overhand knot around that nub (tough to tighten down well) and use electrical tape under and over the first wraps to hold it in place and prevent slipping. Never had a problem.

I’m no expert in running chute copper but when I do I clip a stern planer on the backer. Then if I need it out of the way I can just drop it back a ways and it’s always fishing.

Fished 20-100fow but I just couldn’t find the fish today. The slowest day I’ve had in a few years out there but did manage a nice 10# Atlantic.
