  1. I been doing this a long time and the imprint issue is for sure real. But if the fish are living close to out western ports they return, well at least a fair amount of them. We sure had the fish all summer I am sure alot of our fish went to freezers that does not help. But the salmon river has fish so not got caught. One major problem we saw this year was the weather late . Just as the fish started to stage we had crazy winds hard east..all the water was cold inside , then hard west bam hot water inside to hot. Then east blow ice right back. And repeat it again. The 15 to 25 mph west winds blow for 2 days. After that one the matures were gone. Either we were catching Canada fish and ours were already gone our it was our fish and they booked east. No matter what the vanished. I don't think the imprint is strong enough to draw them back when those things happen . Plus the smaller streams had almost 0 flow at that time due to the dry late summer . All added to gether and you get what we have, a very poor return

  2. It looks like the easiest quick fix might be to just turn over your receiver I can't tell for sure but it looks you have the receiver in with the curve going up take the ball off turn it over in over so it has drop not rise and put the ball back on that will help a bunch. I would still look in to moving the boat forward too.

  3. I have towed a bunch of trailers and I can tell you right now your biggest problem is your tongue is light and your truck hitch is to high you can see the trailer is not making your truck squat at all and it should. I would do 2 things get a hitch that is lower and move the winch tower about 10 inches forward to start with . I would not tow it any more like that it looks dangerous. I have seen people crash because of trailers just like that. People don't understand how dangerous it is to tow a trailer that has bad weight balance and light tongue weight is the worst. It can actually pick the back of the truck up so much in on a curve that it pushed you off the road or in to on coming traffic.

  4. If your getting it caught on the main line from the rod to the cannon ball my guess is you are letting the main line get to much slack. Keep the reel in gear and just back the drag off so the rod stays bent some . I normally put it in free spool but keep my thumb on the spool to control it . The other thing is try and keep the boat a going as straight as possible while setting the lines. Also when posable set your deepest rigger first so it does not have to go by the already set rigger .. if you catch a fish and the other riggers are down still just make sure your going straight when you send the deep rigger past the others .

  5. The best release was made by big Jon it was red and had a main part you threaded on your line that was like a horse shoe shape with a pin that also went on your line. The pin then was pushed in the main PC's ..you could yank your ass off from the rod end and the ball stayed..but when a fish pulled the lure the pin came out and the ball fell off.. we used then all the time ..it was what you did as a junk rod before the copper craze.. I still have some and when fish are deep I pull it out ..you can get down easy 100 foot with only like 250 foot of line out ..we used to save money by gather old rail road spikes from where they took out the old tracks. . Those worked great and were free.. it also was the first way I ran big flashers and meat heads back then ...we did not have spin doctors it was dodgers and squid..the first flashers I used were the 11 inch paddles and the old clear meat heads you had to bend to get to run. And we basically only ran it on dropper rods

  7. The reason the lake has green water is probably all the run off and high water. I know everyone hates the high water but it sure makes the lake heathy. Not only does the rain wash nutrients in to the lake from run off, but with the high water wave action has new shore to pick up dirt and wash it back in to the lake. Think about it normally the waves wash the same well washed rocks and does pick up much dirt or nutrients. But now when a wave even a small one crashes it hits me untouched areas. All that is washed in the lake. Then even when the water goes down most if it settles out and is there on the bottom for a while. So now we had it in 2017 some of that is still left then we get it again this year. My guess is this is very healthy for the lake. And as far as the salmon being spread out down the lake that one is mostly because lake Erie stayed cold so long this spring. With out the warm water flow at the West end the bait did not rush there like it normally does, it instead moved in to the colored water all along the shore that warms first. And the salmon just followed it . That's my take on it no clue if I am right but seems to sense to me .

  8. I talked to one of the people that are in control of the east launch and they don't have any plans of closing it right now. And it did not close in 17 even at it's highest.. they already added to the post that hold the floating docks in place.. The state is quick to close there's because they have now clue about launching a boat, and they don't care about local businesses. The one on the east side is run by the county and they don't want the local businesses to suffer.

  9. I just got some blanks that he had never finished..The one on the far right was his light blank not hammered you don't see many of those any more and the one on the far left is a 66...I put split rings and hooks on half of the ones I got and the rest I might never fish with.. Great piece of Lake Ontario salmon fishing history.. His spoons are what most copied.. I still have some he hand made on his boat for me and those are retired and in hiding..
