  1. Old post but hopefully some people still around. Oleanjeff do you still fish these lakes? I am a land owner on rushford and have a boat set up for bigger lakes but can't seem to find the bite when rushford is full. The screen always looks great on both ends but no bites. Any tips?

I will be there Thursday thru Sunday hopefully will have a report then. Will be fishing pa side as I'm camping near sugar bay.

I was there 2 weeks ago nothing south for me. Seemed like everyone was north of border in res land.

  2. That is a sign to pay attention to.  There was and apparently still is a big hole at the end of the ramp.  If you drop your tandems off the end you will need a tow truck to lift the end of your trailer out.  The guy that lifted my trailer out years ago said he was there several times a week and at that time there was no sign.  That was an experience I would have liked to skip!
Damn I would have stayed a lil more shy had I known that....I'll take luck over skill anyday

  3. So here's a story. So I made the choice this am to launch at public launch past arneys as they seemed worried about where I was gonna park. So I launched at public absolutely no issue.

Well coming back in it was blowing pretty good. So my dad is motoring us back to dock as he can't get out of boat at dock real good so I was line guy. Well pulling up to where we could see it I saw there was a bass boat loading up so I told him to do some circles out a bit and move in when he was on truck.

All he$+ broke loose next I know bass boat after bass boat was passing us pulling up to the docks after 30 min of cirlces I saw our chance and few bass boats (thanks if your reading this) knew I was much harder to control in the chop and helped me get in by taking up space in front of dock. So I get in and docked no issue. Now there is probably 20+ boats floating around and a few boats trying to launch. So I grab truck and get in line to pull out. Another 30 min I finally get to my turn and get out.

Come to find out there was some sort of bass tourney as guys were filling bags to go weigh after they pulled out.

    What an absolute cluster.

Just about to start 3 hr ride home lol

  5. Kurt.. post in the open seat form and post you are new and would like to go out with some people and learn for your own boat.

I'm sure someone will scoop ya up and show ya the ropes
This right here. I was helped by many members on this forum who took me out on my boat and theirs and showed me tips and tricks I use to this day from how they run cheaters to how they rigged their boats and even showing you where to catch fish depending on the time of year. Made some great friends on this forum and appreciate every one of them. The guys here are top notch and know their stuff. They help make the learning curve shorter for us new guys.

You will be glad you did if you chose to.

  6. if you go to Ontario another option would be hughes marina . might be a little easier to launch your sports craft and shorter trip to the lake . from newark 88 north to sodus at light take left on main st / 88 to 104 left on 104 then right on townline rd to lake rd left on lake rd will see hughes on right little past townline .
    Will check it out....thanks!

  7. I'm definitely looking at Dean's cove for cayuga or Ontario (sodus or ???). Weather looks like south winds as of now. The browns should still be active right? I've never targeted them so will be very new to that lol

I watch Yankee on Facebook his reports as well as others are excellent for us weekend guys glad so many take the time to post them really helps us out.

  8. I would check the reports section, from what I have heard they are already getting Kings in Oswego so I would imagine you might get into some out of Sodus. I always caught fish out of Sodus not sure what the hot lure is right now but it's hard to go wrong with spoons on riggers.
I was hoping they would hold in tight for another week but looks like they all went out deep last few days.

  9. Cayuga from Newark is a haul Seneca Lake would be closer as would Canandaigua Lake. If you're wanting to out onto Ontario I would launch out of Sodus and it's about 25 minutes from Newark even less if you're North of Newark. I used to live in Newark and fished out of Sodus a lot.
The tow isn't a huge deal I'll be towing close to 3 hrs just to get to Newark from my house. How's the fishing I'm sodus I've never fished there.

  10. Dad is coming up for a wedding this weekend will be fishing Sunday. Staying in Newark where and what would you fish. Torn with fishing Ontario as weather may have some storms (as of now) and don't want to bad of winds (not worried about getting wet). Thinking Cayuga Seneca oniedia(sp?) Or browns on the big lake. Whats your thoughts.

  12. On the Pa. side Willow bay is a good place to start then sugar bay would be my next spot.
There is usually a lot of daytime pressure on that lake, you would do better night fishing Kinzua. I usually do well in front of the beach just past the bridge trolling at night. There are some really big Browns in there to that no one targets, you can usually pick up a few of them trolling the east shoreline near any of the steep banks where the water gets deep fast, use some plainer to get up close to the shore.
Ps. Always drag a very large plug in your prop wash. There are huge muskies in that lake.

    Good luck and tight lines.
