  1. If you are trolling I'd recommend 40 lb braid.  It's diameter matches dive curve info and it will handle any pike.  Mono doesn't work well trolling as the line diameter is an issue getting lures to dive to your desired depth.  I'd use 20 lb braid for spinning and the same 40 on a baitcaster.  Run a heavy flouro leader or steel and you are all set.  If you are bass fishing as well you can go lighter but still use a decent flouro leader like 20lb minimum.

What about a heavy mono leader

  3. Kring point is the destination. June 24th through the 28th. I have had luck before in the river up near jack cater state park. This is new territory for me lots of shoals and islands to fish off of but I have no idea where to start or what to use. I am a lake trolling guy but enjoy the islands for small mouth and pike. Drifting with live bait seems to work for me and the crew (my old lady and brother) but I'm looking for any insight on hot spots and technique. I have the trolling gear (riggers and dipsys leadcore and copper) every lure you can imagine but I don't have lots of time to dial in for days. The LOU has a great community of fisherman and I figured what better place to ask from the greatest anglers in the world (gambler,Yankee)[emoji6]. Lucky to have this community tight lines!

  4. 7 Color Leadcore Reel I purchased some Okuma Classic Pro GLT rods, Suffix Performance 18lb Leadcore, 20lb Suffix Elite Mono, and Seagur flouro to set up 2 rods for 7 color lead core walleye rods.  Can I get away with 250yds of mono backing, 70yds of lead core, and 25yrds of leader on an Okuma Madga 30DX, or should I go with the larger 45dx???

It all depends on line diameter. All line has a diameter written on the box. Braided line has better strength with less diameter and also last a lot longer. I use the 45 okuma for everything including salmon. I work 20lb power pro as a backer on most reels copper and lead core.
