Where are the lake trout around this time of year? I tried to fish for them in 50 to 100 with cow bells with no luck

Started at 6am beautiful day to be out on the water and away from work. Did all bay rats at 2.2gps speed mixed colors and sizes. Trolled in 10 to 15 fow went 3 for 3. Another guy was out and told me he went 7 for 7 but he had went from irondiquoit to ginna trolled slower than 2.0 and said jointed baits were key. These are some picky fish but with more practice I hope to get this down. I also tried trolling for Lakers with no luck search 50 to 100 fow with little on the graph and not one release running two bells and two dipsey divers.

Started out at 6am headed east in 10 to 15 fow. My spread was two bay rats on each side of planer board and two spoons off the rigger so 6 lines in all together. Went 2 for 2! 5 hours of trolling all the way to bear creek! Not sure why I did hook into more water was muddy plenty of boats out. All together beautiful day just not a lot of fish.

Had enough with my carpet. I finally converted my bayliner into 100% fishing machine. Need the carpet gone because of fish blood and laker slime. What product would be best for non skid flooring application.

I found a bunch of them in 45' on Sunday........ but you had to catch 4 to keep 1. Every one of the keepers had not spawned yet.
Great I was thinking if this Saturday was too windy for lake fishing I'd just hang out in the bay for some perch.

Yea I'm hoping the wind changes. You think the browns will be out there though?

Heading out for browns on Saturday first voyage of the year father and son team. If the wind holds up I will be going out launching out of the genny. Any thoughts?

I would not go to Braddocks because nothing has really changed. The only thing that is a sure thing is the price of a slip is going up drastically on Braddocks. With the money being spent on the old marina, you could go elsewhere cheaper.
Thanks gambler. I will give it some more thought and planning.

Where are you located. That could play a role. For instance. In the Kingston, ont area there are very few charter boats that operate in the spring and summer. IMO there is a living that could be made there but it won't be 100k that's for sure.
You would need to determine what income you need to make per year, divide that by months of fishable water. Then out of those months how many days you could fish and how many days you would lose do to unfavourable weather etc.
Once you know how many days you could fish you can decide how much costs per trip / overhead you're looking at and see what rates you would have to
Charge to make it viable.
It can be good money when it's good weather, the bookings are happening and nothing is breaking but you have to budget for those expenses and cancellations etc.
My .02 cents is it's a tough gig based on seeing several of my friends operate their business's. each of them have other means to offset their income.

I am located in irondiquoit. I might try to base out of Braddock bay since they have fixed it up.

My passion is fishing and what better way to enjoy your passion by doing it for a living. I have been thinking about starting a charter business/bait shop and teaching people the basics of fishing. Can this be done full time for a living?

Side scan will work upto 3 mph so you can locate fish as you drive by hot spots. Also it's good for finding structure.

Thanks gambler ! I will be going for them because the salmon fishing is slow.It is the same as any other time of the year. Late in the month, they will be found a little closer to the spawning grounds in the area.

Hey I was just thinking about direct messaging you. You are always willing to help out, I appreciate it. I usually fish out of ibay or the oak but I don't mind driving further.
