If I just want to tag along with some buddies on a predator hunt, do I need a license? as in; I have zero intention of pulling a trigger, or even carrying a gun, and just want to sit out and watch the process; does my participation require me to have a license?

If you are not actually doing the shooting, you don't need a license.

I have always been locked in every year on this thread.  Looking at everyone else shooting nice deer I was a little envious of everyone that had succeeded with filling that tag.  Three years of tag soup.  I've been celebrating the last few days but I lucked out on monday.  Its weird because I shot a buck on this day 15 years ago, the day I went on terminal leave from the Marines.  My wife always thinks we are all nuts for going out into the brutal extremes of weather for the chase of whitetail.  I explain to her that its worse than a disease.  But when I was overseas it was thinking about the fall and whitetail deer that got me through.  Filling a tag once every four years is worth it for that one moment.  Our kids will understand.  Now I wait a few years to take our kids out.  Threads like this help.  Thanks to everyone for contributing.

    Thoughts?

"Encouraging hunters to voluntarily pass up shots at young bucks best balances hunter interests across the state and is now our management direction"

Passed on a small 6 pointer opening morning just to have another hunter shoot it 30 minutes later, abut 100 yds. away. This management plan only works when you own the land.......

Sorry lots of work ! Well, I got in to the stand at 345. On the way in I bumped 2 does . At 445 1 of the does came back in . It was a fawn doe. She hung out for awhile then I look behind me and see a basket 8 . He goes in the swamp for 10 min then ends up coming by my stand at 20 yards chasing her. Then I hear more noise where the 8pt came from and all I saw was rack in the thicket. Now the doe is 10 yards away and the 8pt 25. They are both froze and watch the big 8 come in . I know this Buck is bigger than the basket so decide to take him . He stops 20 yards broad side . Perfect lung shot he went 40 yards and fell over as I thought. That basket rack went looking for that deer 4 times before walking off. I have had tons of chasing and grunting action the past 4 days . Good luck to all and those who punched already. He is a 11 pt with the junk points but a good Buck! Got some funky growth at the base kinda cool. Time to duck hunt !!!IMG_20181030_192348.jpegIMG_20181030_210307.jpeg

That picture is also going to be my future. My search Sunday three hours trudging through 2 feet of water in a swamp turned up empty. To make matters worse I pulled the camera 80 yards from the direction he came and got to see exactly which buck he was six minutes before the shot. Unfortunately I’m going to have to go through the rest of the season knowing he was the biggest buck I ever had a chance at. I can only hope he somehow shows back up on camera

You guys have a closed season on coyotes?? If so that sucks, my brother in law and I scored a all black and regular colored dog a week or so ago. We can hunt them 24/7-365 here in pa.

It ain't easy being a New Yorker. Four more years!!!
