  1. I’m coming up to fish out of Mexico this weekend.  I haven’t seen any kind of reports lately. I’m planning to be on the lake at 6am Saturday morning and heading west to the plant and starting my troll in 80FOW workin out deeper till i find fish, bein 80FOW is where i got them last trip.  Gonna run mostly spoons, with a FF on a rigger  and dipsey and maybe a meat rig on a rigger also.  If anyone been out of mexico and wants to share depth and catch i would much appreciate it.  I will be posting Saturday how i do while out on the lake.

  2. Longline, thanks for the pics and how you did yours.  Did u use a regular pressure treated 2x6 then paint it? Or is it a specialty wood.

BottomDollar your concept was my first idea. Ive been lookin in local scrap yards for a piece of aluminum and i can weld the braces on it and bolth the riger mounts right to it.

Thanks for you imput guys.  Maybe this will be my weekend project if i can get up the materials

  3. I have a 1986 bayliner trophy 2460 with 8ft beam.  I currently have two mag 10’s off the back and two bigjon with swivel bases goin off the side.  The mounts are drilled into the gunnel and I’m thinkin of doin away with the mag 10’s and running 4 big jons and would really like to have everything on a board. What do you guys use for HOMEMADE boards.  Aluminum/wood? I was thinkin maybe tryin to find a piece of aluminum 1in thick then 6in wide across the back and then welding 4 mounts to the bottom of that and bolting into the gunnel where my downrigger mounts are so I’m not drilling a million holes into my boat.  Any pics,or thoughts of what u guys got would be much appreciated.  Thanks

Fished 9 hours Monday from 50-150 trolled all directions tried many different sets and spoon patterns never moved a rod east or west of the shoot. Just goes to show you every little detail matters and some days you can’t catch em and the next boat is doing great

Isn’t that stating the truth! I spent days goin 1/3 over 8hrs and listen/watching guys around me limiting out in the first hr.  I blame that on a rookie year and lack of experience

  5. Out of couriousity what causes the lake level to be so high? This is my second year fishing Lake Ontario so i wasn’t around 2017 like alot of guys refer to.  I understand its spring and we get more them enough rain. Is this a normal thing every couple years or   Did it just start happening becouse  someone screwed up?

  6. Appreciate the input fishnut.  Yes if I disconnect the batteries the boat stalls right out.  Also this morning i checked voltage on alternator again and it was 11.4. So maybe bein it was all old spare alternator it lasted an hour or two all stopped charging.  I’m thinkin just get it rebuilt and have them check the regulator and hopefully I’ll b back inaction for the first weekend of june.

  7. I had to pass on taking a trip up north this weekend becouse I’m having an issue with batteries not charging on the old girl. Friday i had it on my local lake and the alternator got hot and burned up the belt. Luckily i was close to shore.  So i had spare alternator put it on and i have 14.3 comin off the alternator. Charged the batteries and hit the lake again yesterday. Well after a few hrs i noticed my volts on battery meter goin down and after it hit 11volts i packed up and didnt make it. Boat died and had to put my jumper pack on to make it back to shore. My batteries are a few years old so i will be buying two new batteries but a few guys said the “voltage regulator could be bad and not sending enough volta back to the batterie.  Figured I’d ask here before getting into it and maybe be pointed in the right direction. Thanks for any advice.

  8. I bought  this boat with a different trailer last fall for the Trailer it was on.  The trailer it comes with has no title and the boat has all paperwork. Trailer is in OK shape as I used it all last year to haul my 25ft trophy from scranton pa to Mexico every other weekend.  The boat is in pretty nice shape for its age. Previous ower said the gentleman that owned it overhauled the engine but I can’t start it becouse it has no starter. It has a 6cyl vovlo diesel in it. Asking $1000 or best offer.  Maybe good for someone for parts or the motor. If it dont sell I’ll probly burry it in the back yard.  Lol.

Hey Hachimo, I'm the guy from South Caanan that spoke to you Saturday evening at the dock.  Sounds like you had a good weekend.  We went out of Oswego Sunday morning and ended up putting some decent browns in the boat.  We didn't tangle with any kings, but the browns kept us busy.

I read your post about riggers being hot, then suddenly dying on you but the dipsies start firing. Keep in mind that with all the boat traffic, it will make the fish shy away from the boat, hence the dipsies become more productive because they are down and out from the boat.  Lengthening the distance off the ball may help to keep the riggers firing for you when fish start to shy away due to boat traffic or high sun.

Very true. This is only my second year fishing Lake Ontario and i realize how shy these fish can be.  I set my riggers running 50ft behind ball after they slowed down.  And this was the first time i ever used dipseys.
