  1. I stopped using 20lb years ago because of break-offs. I have been using the 19 strand 40lb since it came out and never had a break-off :muscle: . Before that I was using 7 strand McMaster-Carr 40lb also without any break-offs.   Knot strength in 40lb is about 30+ lbs  .     What do you think the knot strength in 20lb is?        As rollmops can attest , you won't find much difference between the two as far as depth goes. After you loose a couple setups ( :cash: 30.00+ :@ )  with 20lb you'll rethink using it.

  2. Do yourself a favor and treat your dogs for flea & ticks year- round. I've been using K9 Advantix II (active ingredient 44%- permethin) for the last 4 years on my Wheaten Terrier with good results. Just like  using permethin on your cloths, if a flea or tick isn't repelled they die within a couple hours. Our yard is fenced in and she is in & out all day every day and loves to lay down and nap near shady bushes.

Now is the time to read up on ticks & how lime desease is transmitted, not after you find one attached like I did and freak out `till you do a crash course on Deer Ticks. I've had two attachments so for this year (one in my back yard early this summer and one at my hunting club shooting range a month ago)  and cought those little buggers in less than 24 hours thank God. As you'll read up on the ticks you'll see that they don't start drawing blood for 24 to 36 hours after attachment and then even if they have the virus it's not transmitted to the host until they are almost completly engourged.

  3. This is a cut and past from my buddies email response from Senator Tom Libous ( 52nd Senate District representing Broome, Tioga, Chenango and Delaware Counties)   when he inquired about the link that I sent him from the OP, DJ 717 (post #1)

    Subject: SAFE Act Part 2

    This is pure speculation, Jim.

The Downstate-controlled Assembly pushes gun control bills like this every year, but there’ve been no discussions about passing a SAFE Act Part 2 in the Senate.

I voted against the original SAFE Act and you can count on my vocal opposition to any further restrictions.

    Take care,

    Tom

  4. Fished across the lake from you Saturday. From around Carter Gully up to Ellis Point/Levanna area. My spoon program was dead. Only one small salmon all day. Went 8 for 11 on the lakers with dodger/spinny & flies with most of the fish on the dipsey. The fish I was able to catch were deep, 75' to 90' on the riggers and 240' to 270' (#2 setting) on the dipsey. Was disappointed that the rainbows didn't want to play. :shake:

  5. Keep posting. We all like a fish report to read even if we don't fish some of the areas getting the report.

You have given Kinger on his own personality here. I enjoy seeing him as much as the fish pics.

He should have his own Thread. Call it the "...the next episode of the "Kinger" report".  :bear:

For those that don't like your posts and read them anyway,...... :mooning:

  6. I can remember not to long ago when we had to have our trailers & lower units steamed cleaned before launching because of the fear of spreading zebra muzzles......didn't last long :wondering: . ...this too will pass in a year or two.

If the clean earth people really want to stop the spread of invasives then they should campaign to rid all pet and aquarium stores from selling anything that is not native to the US.

  7. Are you checking the voltage difference while on the trailer or in the water?   Be sure the zinc's are cleaned (get all the white fuzzy stuff off) and the grounds on the engine mount are clean also.

Disconnect the battery and see what you read.... If 0 then you have a connection leaking somewhere. Reconnect the battery and disconnect one lead at a time from the bus bar until you find the culprit. Then trouble shoot that circuit.

Another thing to look at is the downrigger itself. The cable may be isolated from the boat grounds because of the plastic frame.
