  1. Does anyone know if the ice is off the lake? With the temperatures this weekend I would like to give it a try. Thanks,
  2. My favorite flashers for meat are the Salmon Slashers and the Oki Kingfishers, they are the fish shaped 13" long ones. Some of my best colors are the Froggy Glow, Chartruese Glow, and the Golden Retreiver. All but one of the 30 lb. fish caught off our boat was on these flashers with Atomik 3 Fly Meat rigs. Burt
  3. Yes the boat is still available, but is already wrapped and winterized in Gloversville, NY.
  4. Jeff thats actually my brother and I warned him to put on sun screen, he had a hard time sleeping that night. Chris I should be out with my son on Saturday hope to hear from you. I think its going to be quite busy this week-end with the Scotty Tournament going on.
  5. Fishing Report Fish Magnet II ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8/14 - 8/16/09 Time on Water:20 hrs. total Weather/Temp:Hot and Humid Wind Speed/Direction:None Waves: None Surface Temp: 76 degrees Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 17 Total Boated:13 Species Breakdown:12 Kings, 1 Brown Hot Lure: Chrome & NBK Mountain Dew Pro Troll Flashers w/ LBB & Packer Atomik Flies. Trolling Speed: 2.5 - 36.0 Down Speed: 2.2 - 2.4 Boat Depth: 300 - 400 Lure Depth: 100 - 140 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== It was a pretty good week-end. Fished 3 hours Friday evening when we got into town, went 2 for 2 fishing some waypoints I had from the week before outside of 300'. Saturday morning went back to the same place and the fish were still there went 7 for 9 for the day which isn't great but we had a pretty steady pick all day. We caught the biggest of the year at 25.5 lbs. Sunday morning 4 for 6 in the same area. All the fish we are cattching are in ice water. I have been running rods from about 50 deg. down and all the fish are coming in about 40 deg. water. I think its from light penetration that the fish are moving deeper. Hope to be back up next week-end, good luck to all.
  6. We were at the dock next to you when you put in. That really sucks the someone would steal the plug out of your boat. Yeah that pouring rain was really bad, I couldn't even turn the boat back around with all the lines in when the wind picked up. We pulled everything at that point also.
  7. Fished out of Oswego Saturday and Sunday morning. Saturday we went 6 for 9, 5 kings and 1 little rainbow that we released. All fish came over 300' or more of water 120' down on the riggers and 330' back on the wire dipsey's. The down temp was cold!!!! I had between 42-44 degrees at 100' down but we couldn't get anything to go up in the preferred temp. range. All 3 misses were on the dipsey, the fish were gone before the pole was out of the holder. We caught our biggest of the year at 24 lbs. Sunday we went 5 for 5 all kings. Same depth of water but the fish came up higher 100' and 110' on the riggers and 240' back on the wire. Fish were not as big on Sunday with the biggest being around 15 lbs. Saturday a mix of Pro-chips and Spin Doctors Chrome, Green Dolphin, White w/Mountain Dew. Sunday was all whites. No pictures from Sunday I didn't want to get the camera all wet. Hopefully will be back up next week-end. Good luck to all and hope to see you on the water. Burt
  8. I am selling the Fish Magnet II The equipment on the boat is as follows: Uniden VHF radio Garmin 172 GPS Fish Hawk 840 w/ 2 840 probes and 1 new X-4 probe 2 Big Jon Dipsey Rod Holders 2 Tite Loc rod holders 2 Canon Mag 10 2 Canon Unitroll It has a 3.0 Liter 120 HP I/O motor w/ OMC outdrive, just under 1400 hrs. I replacd the coupler in September last year. It has been professionally maintained for the time I have had it. The boat can be seen at the Curtis Farm in Oswego where it is stored for the summer. I am asking $6,000 with all equipment or I can adjust price if some or all of the equipment is not wanted. P.M. me with any questions. I have fished this boat out of Oswego for the past 4 years with great success. The only reason I am selling it is that I got a really good deal on a new to me boat. I don't need 2 great lakes boats. Burt
  9. I'll be up fishing with my son this week-end as well. I've been up for the last three week-ends and fishing deep has only brought a few lake trout. Brown trout fishing is what we are going to be trying unless I hear something different before Saturday morning. The Mustad Challenge will be going on also so there will be some pretty heavy boat traffic. The best suggestion I have is have your lines set by 5:00am because the bite does die down early. I will probably end up out for salmon by 9 or 10:00am. I monitor channel 68 if you want to say hi. Burt
  10. (Fish Magnet) : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): (fishing date here) Time on Water: (5:00 AM – 5:00 PM) 5:00 - 11:00 AM Temp/Weather: (70°F and sunny, overcast) Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: ( Calm) Surface Temp: (54°F) Location: (Oswego) LAT/LONG: (GPS Cords) =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: (7) Total Boated: (2) Species Breakdown: (1 King, 1 Lake Trout) Hot Lure: (NK28, Green E-Chip with Green A-TOM-MIC Fly) Trolling Speed: (3.0 mph) Down Speed: (2.2 mph) Boat Depth: (100- 450 ft) Lure Depth: (35-110 ft) ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fishing was great but catching was slow! It seemed like all that was in the area were little skippy salmon. Lots of poles bobbling with no release and the fish is gone. We fished mostly west of the harbor with the best fish of the week-end being a 10 lb. Lker caught 110' down over 185' on a Green E-Chip w/ A-Tom-Mik Green Krinkle fly. Hopefully the salmon will return soon. Not sure if I'll make the trip this week-end or not. The weather doesn't look too good and I really would rather fish for salmon than brown trout. Time will tell. Good Luck to all. Hope to see you on the water. Burt
  11. The Atlantics were 20", 27" and 31" long. The biggest one probably weighed around 10 lbs. but I didn't weigh it. The surface temp. was in the low 50's I didn't change what was already on there.
  12. Fish Magnet : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6/6 & 6/7/09 Time on Water: (5:00 AM – 5:00 PM) 5:00 AM - 11:00 AM Temp/Weather: (85°F and sunny, overcast, rain, snow) Wind Speed/Direction: (NW at 8 MPH) Waves: (1-2 Footers, Calm) Surface Temp: (72°F) Location: (fishing location) LAT/LONG: (GPS Cords) =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 10 Total Boated: 10 Species Breakdown: (5 Kings, 2 Bows, 3 Atlantics) Hot Lure: (Michigan Stinger Yellow Diehard) Trolling Speed: (3 mph) Down Speed: (2.2 mph) Boat Depth: (125 -250) Lure Depth: (35 - 110 ft) ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== The fish were definitely not in like 2 weeks ago but we did our best to put a few in the boat. Saturday we went 8/8 with only 3 fish that we kept 2 kings and an Atlantic. All fish came on spoons except for the biggest king came on a Bloody Death SpinDoctor w/Bloody Death Atomik fly on a wire dipsey 300' back on a #2 setting. Riggers were spaced anywhere from 70' to 110' down with free sliders on them. Sunday the water was a lot colder where we were fishing a little west of the harbor, so we headed east and picked up a nice Atlantic down 90' on a MS Tuxedo. We finished with another king on the wire dipsey 240' out on a #2 setting w/ a Blue NBK SpinDoctor w/Blue Atomik fly. Not hot and heavy for sure but still fun to be on the water. I will be up this week-end with my son for his first trip of the year. Godd luck to all and hope to see you on the water. Burt
  13. We made it up to the lake for the long week-end and the fish were waiting for us. Saturday we went 8/9 with 4 Steelhead, 2 kings, 1 brown and 1 Atlantic. Fish came from 35' down to 100' down from 120' to 250' of water pretty much straight out the chute. NK SS Waddler, MS Tuxedo and Yellow Diehard for spoons, Lemon Ice and White Spin Doctors off the wire dipsies 240' to 300' out on a #2 setting. Sunday we fished the same waters but the fish were biting very light, we probably missed close to 10 fish but we did box 3, 2 kings and a laker(which is the first laker we've caught in a couple of years). All the same lures run. We did catch the big fish of the week-end which was just shy of the 20 lb. mark. Monday morning was a quick trip out, we pulled lines by 10:00 to head back home. We went 4/5 with 3 kings and 1 steelhead that was released. Lost the last king at the back of the boat, it got tangled around the probe rigger and the wire dipsy. Needless to say that one took our spoon. All in all a very good week-end. We didn't have this many Kings around last year until August. I hope this means they will be around all year. Hopefully we will make it back up next week-end if not then in 2 weeks for sure. Looks like we are going to have a good year in Oswego this year. Good Luck to everyone hope to see you on the water. Burt
  14. We fished 4/25 & 4/26, 6/6 on Sat. 6/7 on Sun. 10' - 15' of water east of the harbor. Michigan stinger Alewife & Diehard on the riggers 5' down 60' back. Smithwick Rattling Rogue black and silver on the planer boards. 1 20" Atlantic released the rest cookie cutter browns. We did head out to 100' on Sat. afternoon to take a look, we saw fish but no takers could have been the bright sun and no wind. Won't be back until 5/9/09, I hope we have some salmon move in between now and then. Good Luck to all in the Derby. Burt

  16. Sunbrella suggests a 303 product. I can't remember the name right now but I purchased it at Wholesale Marine online. If you do a search for Sunbrella you should be able to find it. Burt
  17. I have been running the same wire for 2 years, I think it is still in good shape so I'll probably go another year at least before I change it out. I also cut the last 10 ft. off every year where it starts to curl (I have to break rods down so I can't keep tension on it all the time). Burt
  18. Those combos will work for starters, but I wouldn't use anything less than 20 lb. for the leader from dipsey to flasher and I also use a snubber.
  19. You are hearing it right. The new X4 probe is backwards compatible with both the 800 and 840 units.
