  3. Update from Ohio... Unfortunately one of my targets showed up to the set about 15 minutes after dark yesterday. One deer shot, killed , and recovered last night. One other deer shot but not recovered. Backed out until this morning due to diminishing blood trail.
  4. Ground blind on the edge of a clear cut and green field.
  5. Got into my fist set today at 230. Looking forward to my first sit of the year.
  6. Big, bright moon this morning at camp
  7. Headed to Ohio... good luck to everyone this sunday!
  8. So just a few observations on deer movement this week... Tuesday was incredible for deer movement. Not just does but 6 good bucks moving during the daylight. 4 good bucks in the early am and 2 good bucks during the pm. Wednesday I only had 1 good buck move during the day (927 am) but the small buck and doe movement was all day long. The busiest my cameras have been all year was during the day on Weds. Since Wednesday at 10pm... almost totally dead. Very little movement in general.

  11. Lots of good bucks on camera during the daylight today. Anyone else seeing the same thing? I'd love to hear some theories on why.
  12. So the stage is set. A week to go before the long NYS deer season begins. I moved one of my cameras this week just because I wasnt getting the response I expected. With the lack of acorns on the ridge deer activity has been almost absent. I have noticed the lack of acorns every where this year. My two biggest acorn spots are almost totally vacant of any crop. All other crops seem great. Lots of green around and fruit trees look great. So this year I am starting the hunting season in Ohio and I will be hunting the first 5 days of the opener (Saturday thru Weds) at Southern Ohio Outfitters. Should be interesting. Lots of great deer on camera there and Im expecting there will be a ton of action. Its all afternoon sits only. Hopefully I can do some reports from the stand but cell coverage is spotty there.
  13. And it begins!
  14. Cell cams and daylighting bucks....time to get this thing started!

  16. So this week i put down some no till/ throw and grow seed. Anyone have any luck with these products? I did it on a whim because the farmer mowed a small area of the field and the deer were instantly all over it.
  17. The "old school" way to go about things is dock walking and talking to captains. And in my opinion is a great way to start The other suggestion is to call or email and see what kind of response you get. If you were local I would be able to direct you a bit better but Im on the opposite end of the lake. Feel free to use my club's data base to reach out to some local captains https://lakeontariocharterboatassociation.com/
