October 24 am 47 degrees Cloudy NW wind 10-15 Major cold front overnight Very surprised by the lack of movement this morning. Pulled a card when I was leaving and zero deer had moved through in the prior 24 hours. A small buck was the only thing I saw this am. This property is running out of standing crops. October 22 pm 50 degrees Cloudy ENE wind 10-15 becoming calm Rain most of the day and ending around 2ish Not many options with the wind so I just picked (what I thought would be the best) and went with it. Not a whole lot of action anywhere near the stand. Apparently the deer wanted the butternut squash that was way across the other side of the field and not acorns. Who could blame them. October 21 pm Daytime high of 72 degrees but 54 at dusk Cloudy SW wind 10-15 becoming calm Showers subsiding around 3ish Weather seemed like it was going to make for a good pm hunt and I guessed right for once. Rain quit, temps cooled down, and wind died right down. Last hour was like magic out there in the cut beans. 30+ deer, 7-9 bucks (two shooters). Lots of chasing, bumping, and scent checking of does.
