October 3 am 45 degrees Partly sunny Wsw wind 5mph Deer everywhere this morning. Saw them on the drive there, on the walk to the stand, and while in the stand. Only a couple of small buck and the rest flatheads. Easily a 25+ deer day. Sent from my moto z4 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

October 2 pm 55 degrees Full moon Cloudy Rain NW 5 mph becoming S 15 Thought is was going to be a great night to sit. Got in stand about 430ish. Chose to sit on the oak flat and protect the acorns from trespassers. Had a young buck come through almost immediately. Then about 5 mother nature flipped the script. Wind changed from 5 mph nw to 15 mph ssw. Because of the wind change I got out of that stand and ran over to the another stand close by. Just as I got situated the skies opened up and I sat in the rain for the next two hours. Never saw another deer for the rest of the pm except for the six flatheads I saw walking out feeding in the field next to my truck. Rain or shine... Not many places I would rather be. Sitting here getting everything organized in my pack, staging my bow, and picking through hunting clothes to go in the bin. 'Ill be honest. It doesn't feel like deer season starts tomorrow. 2020 has just flown by even in the water down version we are forced to live in. I certainly don't feel prepared. But maybe I never do. I always feel like there was more I should have done but then again its impossible to anticipate everything. Adapting on the fly and making the right adjustments is what it is all about anyways. Early season always leads to opportunity but I have yet to shoot a buck in the first two weeks of October since they move the opening day to October 1 and last year was a perfect example of that. Good luck to everyone. Let the fun begin.

It was a game changer for me for sure. Im not terribly allergic but still I never enjoy getting it. I always seem to get it in august and sept checking stands. I always wear long sleeves, pants, and gloves now. Once im home i scrub my arms and hands with dawn dish soap. Dish soap does a great job of breaking down oils.

No lake creel survey this year... covid...

Today is the day. Hoping to get one more stand to hung before the season starts. It should have been done at the end of last season but better late than never. I probably should hang a camera in there also but ill have to wait and see what it all looks like. Its the spot I hunted during the late season last year and had multiple encounters (3 exactly) with a shooter but could never get a clean shot. I know where the stand needs to go so midday today Ill sneak in there and get it hung. It is a loooooooooong way off the road so it makes it tough.

Anyone have recommendations on ATV mounted food plot equipment? Looking for a combo unit to put in small kill plots.
