  3.

Any update on the number of salmon that came up so far? More, less or about the same as last year? How about size this year? I haven't read anything in awhile. Thanks!

Certainly a lot of pessimistic views from various anglers, its understood early on for the Salmon River anyway things were bleak for 2014. Even though it was to be expected due to the winter of 2013/14, it still seemed to shock most anglers. After an epic run of early kings in the SR in August of 2013 how could there possibly be a comparative evaluation. I am out and about on average 4-5 days a week from areas of Oswego and East & North of here, in the last week alone I have witnessed more Kings than "ever" in the past in my travels, thus as far as "late" season is concerned, I know of cleaning stations taking in literal hundreds upon hundreds of Kings to clean, one cleaned almost 1000 KIngs in the last 10 days that I know. Size of fish is down "over-all" and again if otherwise was expected d/t last winter then most should just keep playing the lottery in hopes of winning. Still from as recent as yesterday I've witnessed anglers with "limit" catches of Kings, and not just one lone angler but groups of 2 and 3 anglers with 6 and 9 fish respectively. Many of which still have skeined eggs, even one Altmar cleaning station reporting record runs of Coho's with 35% of all eggs still "tight"

  4. I had Kevin Jerge install my new RM EV200 with the dial control head early this year. A few setting adjustments to correct over steer and some tie-bar adjustments and 100 trips later this thing ran flawless all year. I will admit many if not all AP's come with issue's from what I hear from almost everyone and I chat with many anglers seasonally. I've installed rudder extensions, high output alternator's for slow rpm trolling (600 rpm 350 Chevy's) and replaced old batteries along with much wiring and battery isolators along with a professional system bleed of my hydraulics. All said and done and I firmly believe I have one of the best working AP's on the market for my 29' Prowler. Either motor and any direction and I am ready to work the back of my boat with 100% confidence in my AP

  5. For my event(s) I am pretty much the entire deal, I do it all, I make the rules, prepare it all, keep it all in line and also I partake. However from the beginning I have always looked for input from those teams only who are considering fishing my events. Whatever considerations are offered are looked at, this with what I feel a majority of (participants only) would agree upon. Over the last 8 years I occasionally hear of a request that 1 team or at times a single member would like addressed. I usually (by word of mouth) will bring this suggestion up to the many that I talk to (always a participant that I know participates) and deliberate accordingly. I have made changes in the past like adding lie detectors at times, changing original or normal Big Fish Friday rules to name a few. Like initially noted I am the whole deal for my Invitational, tweaking much takes considerable thought.

As far as changing the way I handle observer swaps this is the first request of this nature I have ever had brought to my attention. Quite frankly observer swaps are a nightmare, to add the extra prep work you have noted gives me a headache just to think about. Observer swaps work IMO but its hard enough to line everyone up with advance notice let alone at the last minute, it sounds easy to advise swapping east side vs west or women with women but as much as many teams in the past have had a huge concern with timely captains meetings this idea would only add to the cluster that already has to be dealt with.

My opinion is in response to the way I run my A-TOM-MIK Invitational only, no other event that I am involved with. I do not feel any integrity is lost by the way I swap observers currently, its been exactly flawless for 3 years dealing with about 150 swaps (to the best of my knowledge)

Any further suggestions will always be considered, concerning the events I run.

  6. It was great having you in O-Town Pete, your claimed "Suck-wego" held up to its name for the day. Dang, I think I prayed so hard for so many days that I wasn't confronted with the decisions I had to make a year prior that I think I forgot to pray for a few fish even once.

It was great having the "Vision Quest" blow by me on Friday and seeing you in my home town, as it was nice seeing everyone. Great weather was a trade-off I guess. Grrrrr.

Tough year for many on the whole but as I round out my 100 days or so on the water this year I did catch a few great days to keep the blood flowing

Better luck next time my rich roofing friend lol, I am glad you enjoyed the hard work my family put in to cater to you and all my great friends who come to play our game in "Suck-wego"

    Next time !!!

  7. It would be hard to say the Screamer team wasn't deserving of the new cup !!!

    screamerwinscup2_zps14790c63.jpg

I was the biggest advocate of not having to add "all" points from "all" events fished, that with my team one of just a small handful willing to fish them all, in 2013 we had an Oswego/Sodus cup chase in the Pro division of the Pro/Ams and I believe we had 6 or 7 teams included and that was just 2 events. To try to crown a Champion from many ports and expect to compete against more than 5-7 teams just didn't seem worthy of the rather great sponsorships ($1000 cash) we had from each venue.

I wasn't for the Nascar style tally either, but with 6 heads working on this each was bringing something to the table. We worked together very well considering many attitudes with different thoughts of many years of staying in touch with what once was the "cup". I as well feel it sad that was taken away and quite frankly I feel it was poorly played.

Team Screamer did what was necessary to take the title:
