All These fish studies were tracked with Receivers on the bottom of Lake Ontario ( GLATOS tracking system ) The Lake Ontario Receivers are primarily in North Eastern Part of Lake. They would be a semi east to West line from just south Of Henderson Harbor  to south of all these Islands (Stoney Island To Galloo islands to Main Duck Island) to Prince Edward Point Canada. From that line Northward coverage of ALL bay of Quinte and up the St Lawrence river to almost Clayton. Then heading west on Canadian side there is a long line of Bottom receivers well south of Picton/Prince Edward area that go straight out into the lake.. And the last bottom of lake Receivers are on the west end of Lake Ontario  from Niagara River north to Pickering, Canada area.

About as long as the current along the Canadian side would take to go from east to west. The current has an average speed of 0.4 km. per hour, but since it does not follow a straight line and meanders a lot it may take longer or shorter.

    Cornelius,

This is exactly what the Lake trout did, Except going with a east to west Canadian current, It hugged the Canadian jagged northern shoreline to stay away from the more predominant west to east Lake Ontario current. Then made an actual "as the crow flies" direct southwest route to Niagara river mouth.

This is the studies Interploation of route near middle of lake travel.

  5. How long do you think it would take a lake Trout to swim across Lake Ontario (Bay of Quinte to Niagara River mouth) ?   Please give a few guesses and then I will post answer along with seminar video detailing this Lake Trouts journey. I would like to share more of my meetings & seminars/symposiums & travels Lakewide I am involved in year round.

GOALS:     "A Lake Ontario FISHERIES ( this includes ALL warm water species and bays/ponds/tributaries ETC.).  awareness & opportunities for all-aspiring anglers and help retention and recruitment in these fisheries.

When you buy a N.Y. state fishing license , it supports all fisheries, not just the one pourpous it was bought for.

A fly fisherman. Imagine that .

With trout season opening up in about 1 week in that entire part of the state, and Bass Pro Shops carries just about everything for everyone's outdoor needs, would seam like a pretty good business move to promote what is in season currently. I appreciate Bass Pro shops supporting any recreation in N.Y. State, They also still sell firearms and offer training         examples:   "37+ STATE CONCEALED CARRY FIREARM PERMIT & GUN LAW CLASSES" & "NY Handgun Safety Pistol License Course"
