With the shore ice finally moving off the south shore beaches, seagulls will search all day for what “rolls” onshore( mostly dead or dying ) bait.

Only gobies so far. Large dead ones and small live ones getting picked off every morning by mergansers. NO commorants migrating in so far.

Here is a great opportunity for a whole family or a  beginner or a pro to spend time on a WEEKEND in central New York. There is a great lineup of speakers and they should have some valuable (and hopefully entertaining) information to share.

Attendees  can register here: http://ilovenyfishing.com/ (registration link under main display)

or here: www.nyseagrant.org/losportfish (registration link on the left)

The sites both need a moment to load.

Please show support and attend or pass on to a friend.

    THANKS Jerry

Jerry, I think that we are looking for the same things. We just disagree about how to get those things. Our ways may be different, but our goals are not. I have said enough about this subject.

    Agreed,

But I have honestly never experienced having "near the same goals" on anything in my life while having incredibly different ways/philosophies and conversations on how to get there with a large population . My opinion is there is way less communication, negotiations and compromise these days and Talking personal politics is a very tricky heartfelt situation. Always has been.

  6. There absolutely is some illegal immigrants ( an absolute minuscule % compared to the farming/agricultural ) industries of California & N.Y.  . The difference is the shear numbers of NEW lets say "populations" of illegal southern immigration, again mainly from a hand full of the same countries, NOT worldwide as it was and still should be.

Plus Wyoming for example does not look to import these  immigrations of people to work in the oil/gas industry and give them every legal right as a current US citizen like again California & N.Y.  The oil/gas industry is one of the highest paying jobs you can vacate your current state from and move to. AGAIN in my opinion this new constant wave of illegal immigration comes here to do the jobs that Americans are not willing to do and receive the same if not more in benefits ilegaly with government protection I might add in the form of "Sanctuary cities" ( Sanctuary cities are in California & N.Y.  NOT Wyoming) with that said to your point, Most legal Americans are willing to move to Wyoming for 6 $$$ figure a year job and abide by all US laws and very limited at best illegal immigrants are in Wyoming and the entire central part of the U.S.A. (to lesser extent).

Do you honestly believe that 57 Californians should have the same representation in the senate as one Wyomingite? That is the way it is now. In my book it says :"One man one vote". Why should one Wyomingite have the voting power of 57 Californians?

If  in your "book" you really believe " "one man one vote" then you better re-read the footnotes at the end of the book where it factually states "one man one vote from a legal US citizen. Your idea of the whole state of Wyoming's  majority of tax paying/legal voting US citizens should "not have the power over the 57,000 ???+++++ Californians that are not US Citizens who are given the same benefits is .........Wrong................ Wyoming like most every other state is filled with legal immigrants who came from the Netherlands,Germany,Italy,Poland and EVERY other country in this world, NOT your idea of the MAJORITY of the 10,000 of thousands of Illegal people coming mostly to California & N.Y. ( Not Wyoming ) and are mainly ONLY from central/South America now.

Sorry for my political rant ( I know better ) BUT I strongly believe in every single person on this sites history of family legal immigration from every country in the world over your new 'Progressive band wagon view" of "look at how many new people/totals  are in California & N.Y. now from immigration from a bunch of central/South American countries ONLY .

Sad that my personal view cares more about your family legal history AND uncertain future than you do .......

Sorry folks but enuff of this logic of trying to treat this current U.S.A situation/path forward with past common sense history..

  8. Ok,

Can the majority of people here on LOU agree that  the friendly wildlife contest on a lot of boats that happen every year, would continue ?

That contest is who can kill the most biting flies on porpoise or "Reactionary slap accident" ..

    Would this be outlawed  ?

  11. Lighting Up the Night - Monroe County
In the early morning hours on Feb. 16, ECO Spencer Noyes observed a wide red spotlight scanning the fields and emanating from a pickup truck slowly driving on a rural road in the town of Hamlin. Noyes had recently received complaints of spotlighting and people shooting from the road in the area. Noyes followed the truck and pulled it over after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. Inside the truck the ECO found five unsecured rifles, three spotlights, and multiple sets of shooting sticks. The driver admitted that he and his passenger were spotlighting to hunt coyotes from the truck. ECO Noyes issued multiple tickets for possessing an unsecured firearm while spotlighting and hunting with the aid of a motor vehicle. The charges are returnable to Town of Hamlin Court in March.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo toured the ice boom and ice breaking operations on the Niagara River following the significant wind storm that impacted Western New York from Sunday into Monday. The tour was conducted on the New York Power Authority's William H. Latham ice breaker, which is used to prevent ice jams on the river and also to prevent ice from blocking the tunnel water intakes that are used by NYPA's power plant for power generation. Ice breakers will be deployed 24 hours a day for the next three days and beyond as necessary

.Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul said early Monday that the sporadic damage across the region could have been worse, as trees were largely free of ice.

She also said that parts of the ice boom in the Niagara River did break, but overall the boom is working the way it was designed to work and there have not been any significant signs of flooding as a result of the breaks.

Gov. Cuomo also made a stop in Buffalo Monday afternoon, taking a ride on the William H. Latham — an ice breaker boat — to check out the boom and give an update on the storm clean-up.

The New York Power Authority issued a statement Sunday evening about the break of the boom.

"NYPA is actively monitoring the extreme weather situation in Niagara County and is responding to any operational issues as quickly as possible. NYPA had previously staged equipment to prepare for any necessary ice boom repairs and for any needed ice-breaking activity.

The ice boom is designed to submerge during high wind and high water events, allowing ice to overtop the boom. Current flooding is not due to the ice boom. This is a wind-driven event."

  13. I do not think the ice boom actually broke on the Niagara, just a buoy broke off.

  14. Les You still have plenty of time without missing anything. it’s only starting to crazy HAIL now which actually CALMED the lake right down. The Shoreline ice pack is what is protecting most shorelines on the south shore now. BUT it will not last long at all with heavy rain and crushing west winds, the East end of the lake will not fare out very well with this scenario.
