  1. Oak Pen

I have been receiving a number of calls as to the plans for Pen Rearing at Oak Orchard this year. I am not the leader of this endeavor any more but am involved with the project. Bob Steven's and a group of dedicated individuals have taken the lead. That being said I have been asked to pass on the information as to up coming activities. On Saturday April 1st, 9:00AM at Lake Breeze Marina located at 990 Point Breeze Rd (RT 98) Point Breeze NY we will be putting the nets on the pens and will need help doing this, the more people we have the faster it will be done. What will you need to bring? Like fishing, dress for the conditions and bring as set of wire cutters. See you there CBS.

  3. Last Reminder you can enter the Oak Friday event at 4C's and Lake Breeze Marina along with Capt. Cove and Narby's until 7AM Friday Morning. The Weigh in is at the Black North Inn and you must be in line with your 3 biggest fish only in the cooler no later than 3PM.

  4. All check entries for the Oak Orchard Open need to be, to me, by Monday the May 26th. I will be fishing the Niagara pro/am this weekend and will have entry forms with me Checks need to be made out to the Oak Orchard Open. All entries need to be handed to me; except in Oak Orchard where you can get entry forms at 4C’s marina and the entries must be given to Dave Siegfried (Tracker Charters). Next week I will also be fishing the second leg of the Niagara pro/am we will be taking cash only entries for the event at that time. We will not be accepting any entries after June 2. If anyone needs to contact me on this matter my number is 585-733-5829

  5. For those on the tournament trail, Friday June 6th will be the date of the annual Condor Memorial event before the Oak Orchard Open. This is a 100% payback event and cost $100 cash to enter. Pay out will be 25% of the field; you weigh your top 3 fish of any species. (That means bring only 3 to the weigh in if you bring 4 you will be DQ’ed) You must be in line at the weigh in point at the Black North Inn in Oak Orchard by 3 PM. All late arrivals will be DQ’ed the BNI is located at 14352 Ontario St, Kent, NY 14477. Entries may be obtained and accepted at the following locations, Captains Cove, Lake Breeze Marina, 4C’s Marina and Narby’s Store by 7:00 AM on Friday morning the 5th. Prizes will be given out prior to the captains meeting for the Oak Orchard open Friday evening. You may fish this event leaving any harbor but you must finish and weigh in at the Oak. This is the first event of the "King of the Oak Series". Any Questions please direct them to Bob Songin at [email protected] or text him at 585-733-5829

  6. Ok Gentlemen, I will be fishing both of the Niagara Pro/Am’s but will be unable to attend the Captains meeting for the events. That means that I will not be able to facilitate the Calcutta so unless some steps up to take over this task the event will be with out this extra prize.

I will be handling this task at the Oak Orchard Open.

  7. I would like to thank everyone who showed up yesterday to receive our fish. We definitely had adverse conditions to work in and everyone did a great job. The job ahead is just as important we need to take care of feeding the fish, with the size we received them it should be no longer than a 3 week job, performed 4 times a day. So please either stop in or call Lake Breeze Marina at 682-3995 to confirm you will take a spot to feed fish. The 3-steelhead pens are the furthest north pens the rest are salmon. The food will be next to the pens if the container is empty there are bags in the barn directly above the pens. The brown bags have the steelhead food tagged #3 size; the #2 size is for the salmon. The will be smaller containers inside the large ones to scoop the food out to feed the fish please only fill as denoted we do not want to over feed the fish, also please make sure you spread food by hand evenly across the pen so all of the fish get the best chance to eat the food before it falls through the pen to the bottom of the river.

    Thanks Again for your help,

    Bob Songin

  8. Looks like we are going to get the bad end of the weather tomorrow, but that will not stop the DEC from delivering our fish. The plan to be there at 1:00 so please come out and help us. We will also need people to start help feeding them on Wednesday morning you can sign up for that at the office at Lake Breeze.

    See you Tuesday

  9. Fished the pump house to green harbor today on my first trip, limited on browns the biggest a couple 10’s the rest were average spring fish. Mostly muddy water real bad in front of the river and Johnson’s, fished the edge. Our best stick was Thunder Jr’s in Firetiger the second best was Billy Burrou. On the riggers the DW Mixed veggies was good. We also found good green water out in 50-60 on our way back and took a few lakers there. Bucaroo fished east to the flats and also had a good day, he told me their best was the Rapala GFR, makes sense with the muddy water.

  10. Guys the fish will be here on Tuesday the 15th, I have not got a confirmation on the time yet but I will assume 12:30 –1:00 like always if it is different I will get the word out. Hope to see everyone there. We will need fish feeders starting the Wednesday morning so please see if you can make time in your schedules to help with the feeding.

    Again thanks for everyone’s help.

  11. Today it was shake down time and we did find a few problems, which have been resolved. John Polandick and I fished from the point to Lakeside park bluffs 8-10ft a lot of muddy water with some just stained areas. We only got our riggers to work 5 down 50 back hot spoon was the DW SS Mixed veggies we also had the old style Yek small candy corn take shots, all medium browns.  Made one pass then went in to fix the problems, one was the Auto Pilot so it was very important to get that resolved before my first trip this weekend. I will be posting reports both on LOU and my Reel Excitement Face Book page so you can find them either place.

  12. I would like to thank everyone who showed up today to put the pens together in very adverse conditions. Do to the high level of participation it made short work of the project, which I am sure everyone was very happy about. It shows the people that participated care about the success of our fishery. As soon as I get confirmation on the delivery date of our fish I will forward it on to everyone.

Again thanks for the your help today.

  13. Just a reminder we will be putting our pens together tomorrow at 8:00 AM at Lake Breeze marina, whatever the weather, we must get them done since there is a good chance we will be receiving fish next week. Don’t forget your side cutters.

    See you there

  14. Yes spring is coming in one day that means our salmon will be coming soon also. I would like to set the date for putting our pens together for April 5th it is a Saturday at 8:00 AM at Lake Breeze Marina. Please bring your side cutters. It looks like the fish delivery date should be before the 11th of April that is the earliest we have gotten them in a number of years.
