  1. That price seems high. This past summer I purchased a 1999 23' Striper, with a 225 Johnson Offshore engine for not much more than your looking at, for a lot newer boat. I would keep looking, I used to fish out of a Grady 25', had a 260 hp I/O. The boat I have now handles the lake much better.
  2. Copper or leadcore? Do they both accomplish the same thing with realitivly same amount out? What type of rods (rigger or dipsey) should they be run on. I would think with 5-600' there will be considerable drag. Thanks.
  3. When I worked at a marina, we used to use muratic acid (for pools), it works good but is nasty to use. Put it in a spray bottle, spray it on let soak, presure wash it off. It ussally worked better if the boat was dry. Don't breath the fumes, wear gloves, have extra spray bottles, as it will eat the spray mechinisms up. Probably do it on driveway also, throuhly wash drive to dillute when finished, might kill the lawn, I don't know.
  4. We'll be out of the river from now till end of season, at least with the lake boat. We had a heck of a time with the water so low, boat barly came off traler, then going out the lower unit bumped sand a few times. I may take the rowboat up the creek to try my luck.
  5. Gotta love it, you'd think stuff was safe out here (Hamlin/Hilton), they got my 9.9 Mariner last year, left the tank, boat & trailer. I have absoulty no neighbors & it was in plain view of the road, serval hunderd feet off the road though. It just disappeared. The water pump was bad, hopefully it blew up & sunk their boat.
  6. We were out there this morning (sun), ended up with a coho (5lb), a very small king (12"), & a sheep head, lost 3 or 4 other. Between 80-100' 60 down or 180 on dipsey. It was a rough one though, some of the boats shouldn't of been out, I saw a guy in a bass boat.
  7. I would try the new prop, either way you have to buy one. The skeg can be welded or they sell guards you could bolt on (check Cabels or Bass Pro). If you have insurance (I'm assuming you don't), I would submit it & get new lower unit. If I didn't have insurance the above is what I would do.
  8. I have never had much luck with them, others swear by them. I'm running my fly roughly double the length of dodger (16-20"), & I very the lead from ball, is tighter better (less than 10')? Any suggestions?
  9. We started out at 5:30, in 150 worked the areas between the creek & the beach. Got one King around 10, lost 3 others, then got 1 & lost one brown. All came on spoons, King NK wtermelon, or emerald, Browns on the uglist spoon I've seen, a stinger purple with spots, yellow back, they must of wanted to put it out of it's misery.
  10. Was that you in the Lund, We had the Seaswirl behind you pulling out as you were putting in. Was out with wife & kids, the riggers are in the garage waiting to be mounted.
  11. The sonar portion of my Lowrance 350 is not working properly. The boat was left in the water by the previous owner and the transducer has a hard coating on it from that. How do I get that hard coating off with out damaging the unit. I tried a shotch brite pad, it didn't do much of anything. I need somtheing to loosen up the harded grime, will bottom cleaner/muratic acid melt the plastic?
  12. I have the a Sea Sprite 196, looks same as yours only blue & 19' it's a 1986 with Mercrusers wonderful 170 (yea right). I just upgraded to a 1999 23' SeaSwirl with 225 Johnson. As others have said the maintence on the IO is higher, mine had water in the gas (still have the water seperator to install), it was a good boat to us though. We out grew it (wife & 3 boys it gets cramped). I bought it at a marina with warranty for $ 3300 in 2001, so I would think its over priced @ $ 4000.00, needing belows (I had mine done & it was $ 700 two years ago, a good friend owned a marina at the time, he has since sold & moved to Florida).
  13. I ended up ordering new from cabela's on sale capitans packs, ended up being $ 775.00 for two in gold (only had one in Silver). Thanks for all the offers, can't wait to get them on the boat...now to just get the sonar working right, the GPS appears fine, goota love buying a used boat.
  14. How are the flys fished? I see it looks like mainly bhind Spin Doctors, or Dodgers? am I correct.
  15. I am looking for two downriggers must be long boom, & in good shape.
  16. Who? We were out of there by 11 am, though it was blowing good. On the way to get out of the wind the enginge on my brothers boat started cutting out, at the ramp we found that the oil injection line cracked off (rubber dry rotted) at the clamp, bottom of campartment was full of oil (probably a pint), thought it wiser to call it a day.
  17. We ended up with two bass. One around 18" the other was nearly 6 lbs (5-12), & skinny. Called it an early day due to boat problem. Some of the guy trolling were getting pike.
  18. Has anyone been out there? I am really close to Ontario, but with a 14' boat it limits my chances out there. I hate to drive down there if nothing is going on.
  19. Do you still have the motor & where are you located?
