  1. Maybe my advice would be that you increase your charter by the cost of a one day registration and mandate they have an LOC ticket just like they need a fishing license.

If you feel that your clients should be registered than take $ 15 of the deposit and do it , I won't let people on my boat if the derby is going on because I've landed the GRAND PRIZE fish and not had my (at the time) 9 year old step-son entered..... DQ'D. Dave Chlison says sorry but, every one on board MUST be entered. Rules have changed now but, doesn't cool the burn from not having 20k in winnings.

  3. This year, the caulked areas on my boat have got black mildew stains. I can't find anything that will get it off.

    Any ideas???

bathroom cleaner called "Tilex" should clean it right up, just don't breathe the stuff it burns the mucus membranes so be careful

  4. Can anyone tell me when the best time is to use J Plugs?

From now till the end of October when the Kings are running the creeks, Fish a green #4 ladderback or a #4 crome bloodynose

and don't worry about temps as the run gets further along it doesn't matter to them. The spawn has them in 68-70 deg. water

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Was a slow AM for myself and the neighbor who hasn't been on Lake Ontario in over 10 years, that being said I warned him the flip was probably going to screw our chances at any sort of banner day. He was still game and we trolled north to the 32 line. It was a GOOD picture with bait down 55' about every couple hundred yards. Maybe TOO much food to compete with the real thing ??? I don't know but still better than sitting on the couch Good luck to the guys fishing the Orleans Derby hope she sets up again soon

  6. Brian,

I think you answered your own question about when to get off the water. As far as having that happen, I think most of of that have put in our time it will happen. The old Nothin but Net was offshore when the storm was between us and shore when the antenna starts to crack and Keith looks at me and says " your an electrician, is the antenna supposed to make that noise ? "... me, hell no. There's nothing comfortable about knowing your going to have to take a jolt to save the crew but hell, I've been struck by lighting so this isn't going to hurt :lol::lol:

Us your best judgment but understand the next thing that happens when there's nothing else to discharge the potential is usually a LOUD BANG and you may not get to fish again EVER

This fish was almost 45" long and had a girth of 26", long and skinny. My scale is very accurate and it was 28lbs. +/- a few ozs. Everyone who saw this pic said my scale was broken but it's been very consistent with the LOC scales that are throughout the derby ports so I trust it. There is a math formula that can be used but I don't trust it because are fish can be really skinny or real fat.

  8. Mike skip the Oak and start coming towards Sandy Creek. Your 35-40 min. at most and don't have to deal with the crowds. The deep water is MUCH closer and the fishing has been real good as of late. PM me and I'll bring you up to speed. As far as temp it's been shallow but I'm sure the strong west today are going to drive it right down ( near 100')
