  1. The Baron and the Tyee share the same transom, that is to say they have a higher gunnels off the waterline. Something to think about if your multi species fishing. I can reach over the side and grab a fish if I have too. My father has a Starcraft superfisherman and its a nice boat but, its no LUND ......... :P:lol::P:lol:

  2. How far away from shore

How far out & then how far will you need to run along the shoreline to get into your harbor in a quick 4 to 6'chop ?

With over 25 years on the big O, I've never seen a "quick" 4'-6' chop and if your not paying attention enough to your surroundings that it has built to a 6' chop I don't care what boat your in your going to have problems. The 19' Pro V Se I run can more than handle almost ANYTHING the lake can dish out .... yes I my get wet but, even in 6' seas over 350' of water the only limits are the occupants in the boat.

  3. The Verado would be my choice but thats only because of the refinements done to the motor, but if you use it during cold weather I'd be VERY scared of a supercharged motor in freezing weather. I run an ETEC and love everything about it.

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Was a beautiful morning to be on the water. Work between the nose and Bald Eagle with some decent action then .... this monster takes the Bomber Long A 0ee69601.jpg I've caught 6 lb. smallmouth before and this thing made then look small, easy 22"-23" long I'm guessing almost 7lbs. Topping that yesterday my partner in crime dropped this thing in the livewell...e7ba3e93.jpg It looked like it eaten a baseballb9760737.jpg

    ====================

  5. Caught more than my fair share of them. Yes most guys will troll for them but if you know where to find them casting a black/silver or black/gold husky jerk #10 will turn these them. As it gets darker they will go ALOT shallower than you might think. I've caught them in less than 5' but with the weeds this year .... forget it

  6. you should just put them back they never catch anything :lol::lol: JK there great for perch as many of my previous posts will attest. They can be fished just like any other bait but the most affective presentation for me has been a drop shot rig. #6 Aberdeen should work just fine. I run a Diaichi light wire with great success.003-1.jpg This Seneca fatty amongst MANY other fell pray to oakies.

  7. Hi,

I'm a newbie to the board. I would like to take my young son for perch on Seneca Lake and I was wondering if any are being caught now. With the unusual spring that we've had, is it too late? Have they already spawned? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The bite is almost over but, there are a few to be found. Go back through the past treads a read up. There's a big tourney this weekend so don'f expect much if any talk. Most of the big guns just DON'T talk about there fishing.... period.

Work inside 20' of water with minnows, soft plastics, or spikes move till you find fish.

  8. I have a Beckman for kings and a smaller Ranger that I modified the handle on. Took a ex-tenable boat hook drilled out the hook and put the net set in JB weld in it's place. Love having 12' of handle to slip under those soft mouth Browns

  9. Where is the best place or good place to fish for perch. In the spring how deep do you fish and what do you use. I am planning to go to Seneca for perch and i would appreciate any help.

    Joe

    Joe,

I have been at it for almost 15 years and still have some off days. Go back into the past treads and do some reading. There still perch and everything you'd use else where can work but , Seneca is one of the most difficult lake to consistently catch fish in. Usually inside 20' and throw a dropshot rig with fatheads or spikes but don't get stuck in a rut. Keep moving till you find them. Fan cast around where you are , no fish then move. Keep at it it took me almost 5 years before I had a game plan to work with.

  10. I set standards that I have to meet because if I went by stories and how special the catch was, I would have way more fish on the wall, no room for more, and no money left. I currently have 7 with another at the taxidermist now. All of them have been at or above the standards I have set for myself. I hope to fill the king, Coho and atlantic in the next few years. I have a laker, steelhead and a brown in my collection already.

Ya Brian but when we go back to Quinte next year you'll be putting another walleye on the wall .... this one better be over 12 lbs.

One talks of the size of the fish, and then there's those that remember the quality of the memories surrounding their catch. I don't have a single fish mount yet, have a 38 lb King, a 23 lb rainbow, 19 lb northern, 6.5 lb small mouth and a 12.6 lb walleye, many quality pan fish. If and when the time comes to get a mount it will be a reproduction so the " trophy" can be enjoyed hopefully by another angler. Really like the tread and it shows that everyone see things differently but we are all SPORTSMEN/SPORTSWOMEN get out there and enjoy.

  11. There are there but it took constant relocation to stay on top of them ..... Gator , Dad and myself landed 60 fish today. Minnows and Oakies were the go to baits for us and they were shallow less than 15'e43f0093.jpg

this weather is going to have the spawn REAL early get out there men.

  12. Looking at old posts and saw your Seneca perch post. Do you think a day this week would be a good time to go perch fishing? Not looking for throphy fish, just food. Sick of eating deer. Any advice would be great. Thanks Anthony

    Anthony,

Dad and I are going to give it a go this week will post any details .... If you put your time in you should be able to find them.
