  1. Has anyone heard of any muskies coming out of Lamoka recently? I know years ago they got a few nice ones but I have not heard of any recently. If they are still stocking waneta, I dont know why a few wouldn't wander through the channel to Lamoka??? Waneta is cool but being as small as it is, those fish get pounded and must see lures over and over. Having another musky option would be good in these parts. I still dont know why the DEC doesnt stock more muskies in other lakes, it would take the pressure off Waneta . And no Im not talking about tigers which do poorly in most stocked lakes.

  2. Went to Sodus with my son home visiting from AZ. on 7/15. We were planning on trying to get some smallys out in the lake. Got there and even though there was no wind on shore, there were 2 footer from the NE on the lake. Tried out there for a while with no luck and zero marks on the LCR either. We were envisioning a 50 fish day like several years back before the big die off. It didnt happen, it was like a dead sea from 15-30 feet. We decided to go in the bay to try for Largemouths till it calmed down a bit. They were very cooperative as we got 18 nice ones to 19". Went back out in the lake for the last 2 hours of daylight and got a grand total of 1 smally (18"). So now Im wondering has this fishery collapsed completely or was it us? Mind you about 5 years ago, there were many days wed go there and get 100 fish days using the same methods. The guy in the bait store said its never been the same since the great die off about 4-5 yrs. ago. Anyone else fish there lately?

  3. Bucks,

There are "regular" fish at the oak like Bass, Perch, walleye but nothing close to Erie. You can drift with live bait or jigs to locate them or go up the river for Largemouth/Pike. Trolling works well also. That area is famous for trout/salmon though. Good luck. BP

  4. Ealier this year I was perch fishing at I Bay off a point about 30 yards or so with another boat. Doesnt some jerk come full boar between us and shore. He must of been going 30 mph, I could of hit him with my cast. The spot was ruined at that point and I had to move. Yes boaters and fisherman should have to take a course on water manners 101. Also last week at the Black river bay I was casting and this old dude trolled so close to me, I had to stop casting twice or I would of hit him. I dont know what people are thinking sometimes.

  5. Pierless,

OK youre right, I clicked the photo and it was much larger. Im not a biologist but if I had to guess, I would say it was VHS. It has spread accross most of the great lakes. Not sure about releasing it because at this point I dont think it matters. Its already affected the population. I dont think you are supposed to kill fish though.
