Sold / Closed 2005 Arima With 2012 Evinrude ETEC warranted to 2018
mullenj replied to Trorun's topic in Boats for Sale
Is this model the Seachaser "fish-on" or is it the "forward Cuddy"? I cant seem to tell the difference between the 2 models as they look very close on the Arima website. I am still hoping to meet up with you near Syracuse at the end of next week sometime if boat is not sold and you would like to pursue it further. Thanks! -

Anyone still trolling for browns or steelies off of Salmon, L. Salmon, Grindstone areas? Thinking of making the drive on Sat. AM, but wondering if any action still offshore (vs. in rivers).
-
Am thinking of making the trip to port ontario/mexico launch to troll for steelies or browns that might be off stream mouths this time of year. Has anyone been out lately? We use to do pretty good w/ steelhead off Salmon River, but that was 20 years ago; I think there might still be some good action when conditions are right.

Mexico Bay & Salmon River
mullenj replied to Jersey Len's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Wanted to drive up and fish the lake this coming weekend; I don't want to fight the crowds in the river (and I can't really wade the streams at this point!). Anybody targeting browns or steelies in Eastern Basin? Or perhaps its still mostly salmon with other possible lake fishing waiting for still cooler temps? -
Am thinking of making the 90 mile drive to fish out of stoney creek launch; how is the fishing at the wall or trench area/ I dont have temp/speed gauge, but will probably run riggers at 90 feet over 110 fow; how does that sound?

Stoney Point reports?
mullenj replied to mullenj's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Fished on Friday only, from 6AM until 1:30PM; mostly west of drowned island in 45-95fow; marked lots of fish, had 5? hits and boated 4 browns (cookie-cutters), off the riggers down about 40' over 80fow. Very few boats visible in the entire basin. -

Thinking of trying for browns near Drowned island, or perhaps up to ray's Bay, but fearful that water temps may mean a trip to the trench or the "wall" might be more productive.

We hit lots of green slime which attached to lures, cables, etc, and made it nearly unfishable; what's up with that stuff? It was not there Wed. evening, but in the whole bay on tHURSday; looked like rast-man hair, but green!! Anyone else with this problem??====================

stoney point reports?

Thanks for the update; this will help as I await the passage of this weekend's cold fron & winds! -

I read that fishing has slowed a bit in the Eastern basin , but am hoping that area might still be worth the drive. Perhaps better to go deep near the Wall, but I would like to target browns rather than lakers! ====================

Thanks for the input and advice; sounds like a good plan. BTW, what are "monkey balls"? -

I am looking for tips on trolling for steeelies thru early november; locations, depths, techniques?? Any insight much appreciated.

Does anyone still fish off Grindstone, Salmon. L. Salmon at this time of year for steelhead and other species; 20 yrs. ago it was quite popular to fish mouths with egg sacs for stellhead; also, we used to catch steelies trolling using spring techniques; nowadays I see few boats out once the salmon runs are over; any info??

I know that water levels had been very low this year in general, and am afraid that the creek levels might be too low; I have only an 18 ft. boot with 90 horse outboard, so no real problem with draft. Thanks~!

Does anyone still fish for steelies, browns, etc, this time of year off the mouth of Grindstone at Selkirk Shores ?; ten yrs. ago it was pretty decent this time of year, fishing with egg sacs, but I have not heard much lately and have not seen folks there the few times i drove by.
