  1. Montana and Ohio are putting requirements in place that effectively stop travel to their states for Hunting and Fishing "recreational" activities. Spring bear hunting in Montana, and the walleye runs in the western basin rivers of Lake Erie are substantial revenue generators for those states, so I'm sure it was not an easy decision. The regs require a 14 day self quarantine after travel to those states, prior to hunting or fishing. I've applied for a Montana elk/deer combo tag for use in the fall, sure hope this is over by then...……….. Either way, I support this type of restriction, and think it encourages good decisions by travelers.

My youngest daughter works in the ER at Strong. I worry about her health and safety relentlessly. Whatever can be done by the general public to minimize the impact on our health care providers is in my mind the right thing to do...… but I'm biased.

I fish out of same size boat, anything over 10 mph can be uncomfortable unless it's a south wind and your fishing skinny water. Did shake down run this weekend, friday lake was to ruff so played in the oak, sat winds allowed for us to get on the lake and the boys loved it! 20200404_144717.jpeg

  3. From wiki....... on H1N1

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that from April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, there were 60.8 million cases, 274,000 hospitalizations, and 12,469 deaths (0.02% case fatality rate) in the United States due to the virus.[117]

    From ABS News on Covid19

In the U.S., more than 55,000 people have been diagnosed and at least 796 people have died.

It might not be apples to apples, and you might argue the source quality, but based on these statistics the Covid19 mortality rate is 75 times as deadly....... perhaps that's why this particular virus is getting so much attention.

C&R fishing is not good for the alewife.  We need fish taken out of the system to keep the fish numbers in check.  All these new regulations are going making the alewife survival harder.  First it was dropping the lake trout numbers to 2 from 3.  Now steelhead.

I agree with Gambler. Keeping the predator population higher will only lead to continued cuts in chinook stocking.

Why did we go to 1 steelhead in the tribs then? Just asking.............

I don't really think the proposed change will have much impact on fish or fishermen...... charter parties or private.... so meh, I'm OK with the change.

In my opinion, what the DEC and us(lake or trib fishemen) should focus on is properly releasing fish. It's been decades since I've gone out on the lake to punch a ticket of salmon and trout. For me, and many private fishermen I know,  this game is all about sportfishing for fun. I've spent up to 30 minutes with offshore steelhead over the gunnel, trying to revive them, and in the summer surface temps it doesn't work. The methods that should work will take time and pre-planning. I'd love to see some information (DEC or other) and mortality rates on how to release deep water fish in warm surface waters.

I may have missed it but I did not see any mention of the cormorants destroying bait fish population !

Not to mention decimating pen reared fish when released into the creeks.........

It would be beneficial to see the release process and pens modified/redesigned to allows for an easier release of fish in open water.

What happened in Sandy this spring will effect the return of those penned fish at maturity.

It would also be nice to have a "season" on cormorants.............

I have read multiple articles that say that the more coyotes you shoot the more pups they have. Don’t know how true that actually is but we run them with hounds and shoot anywhere from 50-100 a season. They are always back been hunting the same grounds for the last 12+ years

    Serious numbers!
