Just curious, what load are you using? I shoot a savage smokeless 3/9 leupold with a 275gr solid copper with a 45 cal sabot 42 gr of accurate 5744 powder winchester primer. 278yds is awesome for a shot good job.

78grains of IMR 4198, 275gr Pittman Accumax bullet, 3000fps... no sabot

Heck yeah you did nice! Did you have to correct for wind?

No didnt hold for any wind correction.. the way he was facing i figured if the wind was gunna move the bullet it would have put it in his shoulder

Rob hence why I no longer like Leupold we call it the Leupold shuffle. There adjustments and erector are junk

I have a vx6 HD thats holding up on a 300wsm without any issues so far... the older non HD models had some erector issues for sure.. had one take a crap on me twice

    today i settled with 80 grains of blackhorn 209 w/ barnes 50 cal 250 grain spit-fire tmz

Im not totally satisfied yet but that combo seemed to be the best.

Make sure your giving plenty of time between shots with sabot loads... heat will destroy your groups

  5. Rob if you wanna come see whats involved in a smokeless get ahold of me and we can go to the range... i followed the thread all season it seems to me you hunt alot of spots of open field/food sources.. i would base my gun selection off that.. something that will reach out and touch somethin!..im guessing you hunt a shotgun/muzzy zone since you didnt ask about a rifle.. im still suggesting you look into the Cva Scout converted by Hankins Rifles and use it for shotgun and muzzy seasons.

Smokeless muzzleloader is the way to go. I bought a savage model 10ML II 20 years ago when they first came out. Shoots as good as a rifle with hardly any kick at all. I shoot 43 grains of powder with a muzzle velocity of 2100 fps. They dont make them anymore last I heard.

Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Nope no factory produced smokeless muzzleloaders now.. everything is bein custom built... im pushin 3050fps with 78g of IMR 4198 out of mine
