I'm actually playing with a HOOK2 and I'm really impress with how easy it is to go through the Menu and the thing that bothers with reason was how slow was the zoom in-zoom out function and how slow the gps was on the previous HOOK and before that the Elite. Can't try it on the water, boat is winterize and we receive 6-7in. of snow last night and it's still snowing; I intent to run in the car to analyse how fast is the gps when moving. As for the zoom function it's very fast, no problem. But from waht I see now I think it's going to be perfect for the fisherman that want to have a good unit w/o all the bell and whistles and to have a excellent unit. Screen is very clear and sharp. I will try to do a short video

Walleye fishing in the province of Quebec

I think things as improve since you encounter those problems. I cross the border around 60 times per year back and forth and 99.9% of the time I don't have any problem. On all those crossings quite often theire was a US license pplate in front of me and I never seen one pull aside for a second check. As for the walleyes close to home I have the same excellent fishing 15 min. from home on St-Lawrence but I need that remote fishing trip at least once a year, it's in my blood. -
There is a lot of talk about walleye fishing and I'm always surprise that not many US residents specially Vermonters and up-state nyer's and Pennsylvanian that are not taking advantage of the exhange rate in your favor. There is a reservoir in the middle of the province that is a walleye manufacture. There is a outfitter that is base in Ste-Veronnique a little less then 2 hrs form Montreal that run a nice business up there. You jump in the Beaver and 1hr later you are at the camp on the reservoir Gouin. When you look at the rates figure 30% less for you guys; the rates are in Canadian currency. For 5-7 days it's $830/each Can. That include the boat, motor, plane and camp. You can eat walleyes everyday and every meals. I'v seen eating walleyes for breakfast, lunch & dinner. There is also some very big pikes but most of the quebecers are not targetting pikes so they are all for you. I join some links. I'm not related or affiliated to that outfitter but I went there many times in the past and it's a 1st class organisation so I'm not afraid to recommend him. It's a family business, the owners are father & 2 sons; 3 pilots. http://www.en.airmontlaurier.com/quebec-fishing-pike-walleye-canada/quebec-pourvoiries-lacdumale http://www.en.airmontlaurier.com/outfitters-packages-quebec-canada

I'm going to have one in hand next week so I will play in house on the simulator but that will give me a good idea. I will test it with a Navionics card in it and play with the zoom to see by myself the difference between the old Elite and the new HOOK2 I'll let you know

The new HOOK2 introduction video. A lot in a small budget. There is models to everyone.

I would agree with Tyee11 for the 9 at the stern. I run some of you're tools also on my boat: HDS Gen3, Lowrance AP NAC-1 with a RC-42 compass instead of the Point-1AP, Point-1 for heading and a 9" in the back; all link by NK-2000 and Ethernet. Xi5 with the gateway. For transducers I have a TM-150, I also have the Structurescan 3D and the X4. Riggers are Scotty's 2116. Next season I will try some adjustable extension for the rod holders on the 2116.

Same frequency then the TM-150. The BL if I'm right mean blue connector (Lowrance) and it's a 7 pins. The difference between the 7 andthe 9 is the 9 is a Xsonic transducer. The document that I'm looking maybe not up-to date and maybe the newer model come with the Xsonic functionnality. I will look at it -

You can run a LSS-2 and a regular ducer with your Gen-3. The LSS is plug in the black connecor in the back and the P66 in the blue or red transducer plug in back. With a HDS Carbon you can run 2 differents tranducers at the same time because the Carbon got 2 channels (2 processors) Do you want to run the LCX (P66) at the same time you will run the HDS with the Total scan)? Not sure what you want to do. -

From waht I know from Lowrance testers those low price unit are very impressive for the cost. You can get a single frequency 40deg on a 200khz, a what they name Splitshot (2D-CHIRP and downscan) and triplshot: down-side scan-2D and CHIRP.. They are suppose to be ship by mid-december (soon) but count more in January. https://www.lowrance.com/lowrance/series/hook2/
