  1. When I needed a replacement canvas for my 221 Islander, I took a shot and called my local Starcraft dealer. They were able to get a complete package, which included the top, rear drop down, aft and side windows for a pretty reasonable price compared to other canvas shops in my area. I paid less for the Starcraft kit than the least expensive canvas shop's quote. The dealer called me 3 weeks later to say the kit was in and ready for pickup.

  2.

I have decided to upgrade my downrigger rod reels and am offering my Daiwa Sealine Great Lakes 47LCs.

They have been very reliable and have cranked in a ton of fish over the years. All (4) were spooled in the spring with fresh 30lb Ande green line and there is between 800-900 feet on each reel. The line goes with the reels.

Asking $100 for all (4). I will handle the shipping cost to you. Thanks!IMG_20171213_183204.jpgIMG_20171213_182028062.jpg

  3. I'll never go on the lake again without my kicker. I took it off one weekend to do some work to it back home, but didn't get the kicker completed before I came back to the lake. Took the boat out without the kicker and the main engine died coming back in late afternoon. Wouldn't restart. I had to call for help and be towed in from about 5 miles out. Kicker would have saved the day.

  4. I'm upgrading my electronics this season and am selling my existing units.

Raytheon RC 425 chartplotter with all cables and wiring. Raystar 120 GPS antenna included, along with the mounting bracket for the chartplotter. Unit has an SD slot for the chart card, but no card is included. New internal battery installed by Raymarine (3) years ago. Asking $125 for everything and I will ship for free.1487979449974.jpg1487979459681.jpg1487979476964.jpg1487979483482.jpg

  5. I have (2) batteries on my Islander. Group-24 as the starting battery for the main engine. I have a Group-27 deep cycle which powers ALL my electronics (GPS, VHF radio, fish finder, AM/FM radio and downriggers). Both batteries are connected to the main engine through an isolator which charges both batteries when the engine is running. I have a switch at the dash which allows me to engage or disengage the isolator should I need to.

I did this so my main engine battery is always isolated from all electronic devices and any parasitic draw. Guarantees the main battery always has enough juice to fire up the main engine. I've been running this system since 2005 and just replaced the 24 last year and the 27 in 2014.

  6. All the paperwork and documents for the Mexico Bay come to my PA address. I cannot get a residency status in NY because I do not live there. I am merely there on weekends. All my registrations go by my driver's license, it's how the process works here. I printed out the paperwork to do a NY registration and they ask for your mailing address and your driver's license number and state of issue. I cannot provide them a NY residency status because I don't live there more than 90 days out of the year. This is a dilemma I'm trying to figure out to register the boat in NY.

Look, I never was looking to start a debate, just a friendly question of what everyone does and gather opinions. Thanks for everyone's input and opinions.
