You're fine Sherman, no overstepping noted. That's the approach I'm taking here. Someone getting started with riggers and wants electrics over manuals. I started with small manuals, upgraded to Uni-Troll manuals and then to the Mag10's. Don't know why I waited so long. I took everything related to these off the boat so it'd be easy for someone to install them. No buying bases, power cords, etc. Everything is there. Would even make a nice backup pair.

I'll be up in Pulaski this weekend and can bring everything with me, if interested.

Just the swivel bases or the risers, as well?

I upgraded my downriggers last fall and am offering up my old pair of Cannon Mag10 HS downriggers for sale. Both have had the updated circuit boards installed. Extendable booms retract and extend fine. Both have the weight retrievers, dual front mounted rod holders and power cables. They both worked great before removal from the boat. I'm also including the Traxstech/Pursuit risers and bases for both riggers. Currently, both are in southeast PA, however, I will be up near Pulaski many more times this season. I am willing to meet up with you locally in PA or I'll bring them up to the lake. Asking $500 for everything.

I'm from PA and have had the USCG safety course card for a long, long time. When my daughter came of age and wanted to drive the boat, I took her to take the class. I actually sat in on the 3-week class with her just to get refreshed on any updates to the course. I inquired if the PA license is recognized in NY and was told "no". The flotilla leader said the only one they offer which is recognized by NY is the NJ class. So, I signed both of us up for the NJ class, which was 2 evenings. Along the shoreline at our house on Lake Ontario, we have some neighbors up the beach from us, also from out of state, that have Wave Runners and boats. It's quite apparent they have had NO training whatsoever. They speed by the shoreline within 50 yards of shore, showing off, and driving with no obvious knowledge of the rules of navigation. One WaveRunner almost hit a paddle boarder last year. Single seat Wave Runners pulling 3 kids on a tube. I just shake my head. Where is your spotter, where is the seating for all (3) kids? These people do the same thing when pulling kids on tubes from the boat. Just the driver of the boat, no spotter. Last year, same said boat, lost a kid while going over a wave and kept going, had no idea a kid got bounced off. Took a good 30 seconds for them to realize their kid was missing. They bring their boats in right along the shore, rather than staying offshore and then turning in once in front of their property. They've had the sheriff and Coast Guard called on them many times from multiple residents, but nobody comes out. I agree there isn't enough manpower to enforce the law, but something has to be done about the reckless and enforcing the new law. Maybe having the sheriff's sit at boat launches and checking for their boating class card. No card, no launching the vessel. I agree it's about time the course was required. Just hope it gets enforced before someone gets hurt, or worse.

Just curious if anyone has any insight on a company or business that may have leftover factory canvas in stock for my 221 Islander. I need a new aft curtain, as the mice somehow got to mine over the winter. I had new Eisenglas made 3 years ago at a shop near me (I know the owner) and I reached out to him a month ago about my aft curtain. I took the old one to him and he said he could make it off the old one's pattern, be a week or two. I called him Friday and he said he hasn't started it yet because he can't get the material. He said hopefully this week, but don't count on it. I've called a few other canvas shops and they all say the same thing, can't get the material. About 10 years ago, I was able to get a complete factory original canvas set directly through Starcraft, but they don't show any available now, as the Islander has been discontinued for years now.
