PSA: Hooks are sharp!

Cleaning the garage is the last place I expected to impale myself with a fishing hook, but here I am—living proof it can happen.

I was hanging some musky lures from a high shelf and standing on my tippy-toes. I got the lure hung, but then I slipped, impaling myself and ending up dangling by one finger from the shelf.

After a quick trip to the hospital for a snip and some shots, I was back out fishing the next day!

I got blood !  Had a doe being harrased by a 4pt at 7:30am she gave me a perfect 10yd shot and I knew she wouldn't go far ,  she dropped in sight  up wind ,  the 4pt hung around her followed by another scrub , then about 9am this dude came in hobbling on a dead front leg and gave me a 10yd shot.  

** Follow up on the injurie, huge bone mass on his shoulder but no puss look like an old break car hit possibly.  Explains the goofy rack on the opposite side

Youth hunt success for my kid, her first deer! What an awesome experience to share with my daughter and buddy, she waited for him to stand still from bumping doe around and cracked him perfecty @ 200yd with the .243wssm. 

Quick solo trip, Felt like I hooked a submarine! 18.2 lb on a medium light bass rod.  

Tried for lakers but struck out, bounced around from 70 - 12 FOW walked at least 4 miles and drilled solid 8 everywhere.  Tough lake but buddy saved the day landing this rainbow

Yeah business is booming at the bait store,  5:30 was a line out the door.  It's amazing the amount of people that enjoy the sport of sitting on ice. I was really expecting to pick thu perch all day and possibly get a walleye not how it worked out at all but could have been worse. 

First trip to Oneida was a success landing my first ice walleye but definitely not on fire by any means,  bounced around depths on the west side  from dark to dark, managed 4 walleye and a few jumbos. Marks were few and far between with a lot of lookers and light bites that drop easy. All fish came off a small perch color spoon with a whole fathead in 23fow .  Tried buckeye, minnow heads , jigging raps just never got anything to produce an aggressive bite, most fish seemed to take off running at the sight of my presentation.  It was zoo out the with tents as far as the eye can see in every direction. 

Hunting -

I gave my 18yo nephew a full partnership deal this year at my place giving him access to all the cell cams and stands,  he spent every minute he could in the woods while working full time, he harvested his first bow deer (doe) while I was in the ground blind filming for him. That deer ment as much as a 20pt buck to us that october night!  He put in his time and would passed several smaller bucks  playing cat and mouse with shooter bucks appearing on cam opposite of where he sat often.  It was down to his last bow hunt opportunity on a rainy Nov 10th Sunday evening,   he climbed into the stand early and txt me at 4 that he was soaked to the bone -  I said stick it out it's power hour and these deer have to move after the rain let's up,  4:30 my phone rings - "I  juSt.  sMokEd  oNe!!!!"   

Smoke it he did !  A great shot on a great buck, His first bow buck and  memories we will never forget!  

His father - my (brother and best friend)  passed away a few years ago , to say this means a lot to me would be an understatement.

We struggled with staying hooked up just like you mentioned ,  lost several after a few mins of fighting even after trying to set the hook harder!  Landed my first jig king on a bass rod and plan on many more !   

Came in at 36# 

Full moon night with a simple headlamp and my 30yo browning setup. Cheap fun! 

Still a nice 5pt I guess 😪  

Gambler,   i too have witnessed this same phenomenon years ago.  The buck was so aggressive and violent I was scared to get down I'd never seen anything like it and will never forget it!

Score !   Crisp 25° morning for the win !   Chasing 2 doe.. luckily the doe brought him right to me for the 20 quarter- to shot.
