  1. We have hunted Canandaigua Lake the first 2 days of the split and shot 1 bird. Moved to Lake Ontario shore in Orleans county yesterday (29th) and shot limits of Goldeneye. A few Buffies and a small group of Mallards were seen but nothing else. I think we're about 2 weeks behind a normal season. It might be the last weekend of the split before real numbers of birds show up on the Fingerlakes.
  2. Launch at the south end and troll north from the drop off to just north of Granger point cross over to the east side around Whiterock, usually will pick up a Laker in that area on the bottom. Good luck
  3. Yep, Sutton 44 smooth silver with trebles. Very slow. One ole' boy at Sutton's told me some years ago, if your on the fish and you're getting no hits your going to fast. 1.2-1.5 mph seems to work for me. Finding the fish is another story.
  4. Here's the skinney on Cdga Lake, lived there for 25 years. Early June had the best luck down the east side over 90- 115 fow. Lakers will be hugging the bottom with bows and browns in the same water about 10 ft down. Hasn't been much rain to really warm it up much on the top water. I still like slow moving spoons for lakers and raps or cleos up top. Hard to beat a Sutton 44 for averages on that lake in deep water. Good luck to all in the derby.
  5. Hi, A young man from the Canandaigua Area will be paddling across Lake Ontario this summer to raise money for breast cancer. Recently his mother had undergone treatment for this all to common disease. A custom canoe was built by Hemlock Canoe just for this trip. He is an avid outdoorsman with plenty of experience. The only thing he has left to find is someone willing to run a chase boat behind him, a Coast Guard requirement. If there is anyone interested in helping out I have left a link to his website with all the contact info. It might be some good exposure for a charter captain. I believe he plans on heading out of Sodus to Kingston Ontario. Thanks for your support http://www.paddleforbreastcancer.com
  6. Try going directly across from Granger to White rock. Stay about 40-50 feet down over 100-125 fow. From there troll north along the east side to vine valley. Use Suttons or NK's in lime green or combinations of green. Good Luck
