  1.   After getting into spring KIngs off Oswego 2 years ago I knew we had to do that again so last fall when we saw the LOTSA school in Jan My good friend Randy Savage and myself decided to enroll so we could learn about the spring King game in the western end of the Lake. We had agreat time and learned some new tips and gained some knowledge on reading Lake Ontarios water colors. We found another friend that was interested in joining us for an exploration of the western lake. We headed out tues eve and had arrived at Irondiquoit Bay shortly after daybreak wed morn. We had  a tough day managed 5 skippers and 2 small steelies. After getting a tip from Two Tails (thanks Mike) on the bite earlier in the week out of Wilson off we headed to finish our journey. Thurs we managed 6 kings and I lost count of how many Lakers on a mixture of spoons and ff on the dipseys.Fri we found mostly a spoon bite and did 11 kings and 14 lakers. Knowing Sat was invitational day My crew and I launched at 4 and were all set up by 5 in hopes of boxing a few prior to all the boats at 6. It was neat to hear the roar of all the boats at 6 even  before we could see any of them. Our plan worked we had 3 kings in the box by the time the pack arrived.

Shortly later our wire deeper diver starts screaming we had a white green dot spindoctor trailing a proam out 125 .Mike was the first to the rod .After about 20 mins he had it to the back of the boat for me to net. I knew it was a good fish just did not know how good until my 2 scales showed 24+. We pulled our gear and ran to the weigh station not knowing they did not open until 9. At 9 our hopes were confirmed as the scales showed 24# 9oz. we headed back out to only manage a couple more lakers for the rest of the day. We were relieved at the end of the day to see our catch held. Sun we followed the same program early it was a blast had 2 solid hours in the back of the boat continuously tending to rods netting fish/fighting fish  a mixture of kings and lakers. We ended sun morn at 9 with 6 kings in the box all teens but it was time to start our journey back. After cleaning our catch from the morning we packed up the boat and headed to Sodus with our prize winning catch watching the leaderboard every 15 min.Well it held. I  WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THOSE THAT CONTRIBUTE ON THIS FORUM. With out this as a resource for lodging techniques and tips this trip and lifetime memory would have never happened.

                          Thank You

  2. I do not trailer my boat long distances with a full tank of fuel. For long distance trailers (greater than a hour) my boats gas tank is usually 1/4 to 1/3. Also coolers of food ice beverages are in the truck not the boat to lighten up. 6.3#/gal x 125 gals is 780#s.Buy your fuel when you arrive.I had problems with tires due to too much weight and by lightening the load I have been trouble free.

  3. Do you mean the coated cable? Or the 6-12 inches of the actual antenna that is mounted to the downrigger. If it is the downrigger cable I would replace the snap swivel on the termination to the probe.

Sorry did not notice torpedo was thinking my depth raider. Had bad downrigger cable snapswivels before cause a twist

  5. Had an invite from my friend Jimmy Cuomo (aka Lake George) to fish on his boat out of fairhaven . My friend Randy and myself left my house at 1 am to meet him at Bay side at 430.Set up at 120fow just north of the shoot pointed north and set up.Rigger fires .with only 3 rods in the water. No one home. Finish setting up and both dipseys take off. We land a teen and a skipper. It is not even 6 yet. We continued out to 300 fow the screen went blank. Headed back and forth in the 150 to 230 fow .Ended the day 13 for 15 1 small steely 1 teenager 5 major's. 90 % dipsey divers only 3 releases all day on riggers. Watermelon SD with Crazy b fly and a Crazy b SD with green crinkle on dipseys 275-315 were our top producers. A big thanks to Jimmy for a great day and see you next month with my own boat.

  7. We fished both days also. Sat we boated 43 for 56. Mainly a spoon bite. Hot spoon was a custom painted speedy shiner parked 5 down and 70 back on a rigger.Just like you our bigger browns came off catfish.sun we struggled but did manage 4 for 8 by noon never did get a pattern set. Interesting on the firetiger as that is something we did not run.It was baffling though to find the fish in the cooler water.

  8. I had not had much luck on cutbait till this August when I tried Brads cutbait plugs. I would get rid of the sponge and place either Erie Derie or Familiar bait in and run it behind an 11" hotspot of similar colors. During late August we were boating more fish on these than on fflys and/or Spindoctors. The plastic plug would kind of protect the bait so we could sometimes get 2 fish off a bait before replacing. I know next year I will have one rigged all the time.
