  1. 8:30, 18 pound silver king, 60 over 240, mtn dew spinny and atomik fly.
  2. Setup at 7:30 in 100 Dow and ran NE out to 250. Full spread of some of everything between 70 and 40. Nothing firing yet. Lots of guys out deep, guessing on temp and banging 3rd years and trout.
  3. I can't weigh in on Garmin as I've never owned any of their marine stuff, I'd go Furuno or Humminbird myself. That said, I have had some Lowrance stuff and will agree with the masses that their stuff is buggy and their support went to crap about 10 or 12 years ago. They are worst in industry IMHO in support. I would consider a Garmin GPS next to a Furuno FF if I was running separate units. I'm not impressed with reviews I've seen or the picture on the Garmin FF units.
  4. That looks like blistering in the pics?
  5. Taxidermy sizes for me would be (Personal Record included): King: 40 (PR 35) Brown: 25 (PR 11, don't fish them) Steelhead: 25 (PR 19) Laker: 30 (PR 21, don't fish them either on purpose) Coho: 25 (PR 19) Atlantic: 20 (PR 16) Pike: 30 (PR 18) Musky: 40 (PR 14, accidental catch in 1000 Isles) Smallmouth: 8 (PR 5.5) I don't fish for anything else in NY that I'd mount. In most cases, I ain't that close, lol.
  6. LOL, combat fishing in front of Russell Station and along the mud line of the Genny! That is my childhood on our Starcraft 18 and later Four Winns 225 (Ontario Flasher). Guys screaming, the occasional flare being fired...those were the days, hahahaha! Then we'd get some fog and everyone would be blowing horns in a pack 300 boats deep and you'd hear this booming blast and the Nautilus (a 36 Searay flybridge charter out of Braddocks that was the biggest thing out there then) would emerge 200 feet from a fog back coming right at you and chaos would ensue! Thanks for bringing that up, great memories!
  7. Bass, the C Channel was more than strong enough. I'll take some pictures of it finished this weekend. My biggest thing, like you, is I wanted easily removable and also STOWABLE, which is why I went with the Aluminum as a Doug Fir board would weigh a ton more moving around and storing. I sprayed the ends with spray rubber just for a finished look and to make them softer if my clumsy butt swung it into the glass moving it. I easily bungee it to my hardtop if I want it out of the way. Also the C Channel gives you easier access to the under size for washers and bolts. The tube either would make you tap/thread it, go though two layers with the drill, or run stuff down inside which is a pain.
  8. He Bass, look at this thread. It is a bunch of guys on this very topic which I was exploring as well as what my final solution ended up being which was $200 delivered, took me about 2 hours to install, and has worked great! http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/36459-i-might-be-pathetic/page-2
  9. Agreed, I'd name the guy/boat. I also keep an old set of 10# weights and some Cannon Dual cranks on board and I'd pull gear, drop that stuff out 150' then cross his stern at about 50 feet to ask him what exactly he had to say. Then again, I turn into a real prick in those type of situations.
  10. Black and white. Like this and either green, orange or the purple stripe as shown. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-King-Lures-Trolling-Spoon-Mag-BW-1-NEW-/110941007381
  11. Steelie, about 7 lbs, 55 over 210 straight N of Olcott. Will pull at 170 fow and motor back to Wilson for beer. 2 for 4 with a lost spoon in the mouth of a king will most likely be the final score. blah. Weird side note, 25 BG is clean but 30 lbs steel is covered in fleas. Go figure.
  12. Pulled dodgers and spinners, added more spoons and lobbed in two jplugs on a whim
  13. Good temp down 80. Setup same as yesterday starting at 120 at 2 pm. One shaker king 50 over 180. Upper stacker, b&w NK again
  14. Hit one small steelie at 7:30 when pulling on a black and white NK down 50 over 120. Highlight of the night was the speeding ticket on Saunders on the way home. Gotta pay for our lovely government.
  15. I trolled out to 350 and as I'm sending this running in 125 fow. Marked some bait balls and occasional fish around 140 fow and a few around 190 but scarce. 45.9 degrees 85 down over 120. Just trolling in and milking it now, lol
  16. Time on water, 5 PM. Still not a line moved. Running dodgers, spinners and spoons between 80 and 40 down. Found 46 degrees down 80 over 250, 70 over 300 and right now 89 over 180. Wasting gas. Going to give up and pull them at 7:30 then decide if it is worth running tomorrow morning or not.
  17. So this is the first year I have docked in Wilson and have a boat I REALLY shouldn't be towing and I'd like to pull it out and leave it in Wilson. I have a trailer for it and would get it wrapped but who has the best spot as far as price and security to leave a boat up there? I REALLY don't want to haul it back to Grand Island but if I have to then I have to...
