  1. Be careful of the generalizations you make. I have fished with Glen and know firsthand that he is not all about the numbers, matter of fact he is all about the big fish. We passed up a bunch of small fish on a recent outing and went to target larger fish because it was too easy catching the little ones. Another trip we targeted Kings for a few hours because they are bigger and fight more than the browns we were catching the day before. Again, looking for larger and tougher to catch fish. Until the DEC makes rules due to a problem with overfishing and mortality rates, I think I will attempt to catch all I can, especially when it costs as much as it does to go out.

    And just to make it clear in my own mind, are you really saying we should TRY to catch LESS fish?...on a FISHING website??...set up to help people catch MORE fish???...that is sponsored by fishing companies????...that supports and promotes fishing tournaments?????...sorry just attempting to understand.

    SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

    ====================

    Fished with Glen off of the Spoonfed boat. Did not arrive till 10:30 saturday and got set up just before noon. Very tough day with 4 lakers, 4 browns and a smallmouth. All we could do was just pick at them slowly. We did not find any consistency or concentrations of fish. Lakers were all between 14 and 18 pounds, small browns and a nice smally.

    We made up for it and then some on sunday! Got a late start cause we stayed up too late, then spent some time fishing for salmon before going in to try for browns. It took a little while before we found them and zeroed in on a pattern, but when we did we put the smackdown on em! We tried to stay a little bit away from other boats and it paid off. We hit 40+ fish with 2 lakers and 2 missed kings in the mix. 2 nice browns around 11 pounds, the rest were average cookie cutters or better. Lots of doubles and even took a quad on one pass which was interesting to say the least! GREAT day on the water!!

  3. Had the day off work but did not want to go all the way to LO, so I decided to try some nearby ponds for largemouth, even though it is a little early in the year. Guess what? Its not too early. First pond I hit was on fire! I got around 20 in 2 and a half hours, mostly small, but a couple near 3.5 lbs. Had to run an errand for an hour so I decided to go back and fish a different pond to see if they were biting there. Nothing - only fished it for an hour and knew nothing doing there. So I pack up and head for a third different pond. Yahtzee! For the first hour I hit 10 bass, 1 pushing 5 lbs.! Slowed down after that as I moved around trying to find other spots, but awesome day for SO early in the year. Fish came on tubes (green pumpkin), rapalas and a topwater popper!

  4. I was out Saturday with a buddy. We trolled right out of the chute at Little Salmon river and went all the way to the dunes. We were about 21 for 24 and hit 3 pretty decent lakers all the rest browns, only a couple big ones. ALL of the big ones had to go back as the fillets were messed up with Lamprey marks!! The ones over 7 lbs. had multiple eel marks on both sides of the fish - amazing how messed up they were. Talked to some other guys that had been out too, same thing - all the big ones were jacked up with eel marks. That sux, I hope its not gonna be like that all year, but it looks like it will be...
