  1. Spent nearly 6 hours fixing the wiring on my boat trailer today. Not surprised after having to re-wire the boat. Fixed more than 20 bad splices, still didn't have turn signals or brake lights. So I replaced both tail light assemblies and the right side amber light. The left amber light was like new, so now all the trailer lights work. I also installed the 2nd and final LED light in the right side gunnel. There are no lights on the right side (keeping it simple for now), and replaced the 2 old light fixtures that were already there but not working).
  2. Making progress, good job!
  3. Just attach the pictures directly from your phone or computer. Don't use a photo app.
  4. You have to admit, it IS fun to ask someone if the item is still available a year or two after the item sold Okay, not really...
  5. The good ol days went to the wayside. I would hate to be a young college grad trying to start a career these days. It was much easier in the 80's.
  6. I'm in Carthage, he is in Syracuse, so either location would work. He's keeping his options open.
  7. Thanks for the info Corey, will pass it on to my son.
  8. The black bracket is in good shape, just not the right size for the smaller radios. I'll hold onto it in case someone needs it.
  9. My bracket is over 7" wide. Your Cobra looks like the same width as my Standard Horizon radio. I found my new radio mount on eBay for around $5. The PO of my boat had the small radio in the wide mount, connected with just one screw on the right side.
  10. I've got a bracket but it's probably too wide.
  11. Thanks for the links and the info! All 3 links opened for me, I'll pass these on to my son.
  12. Lol, you are correct about how tough it is to find paid internships. We will keep his options wide open, to include more classroom time this summer
  13. Very cool! I think it's a great program, and super convenient.
  14. Thanks for the info. He's planning to work over the summer and take a break from the classroom. He needs to save enough money to help pay his tuition this fall.
  15. Thanks Lucky13! We've seen these folks at Cranberry Lake.
  16. Thanks John! I'm excited about the possibilities and potential for how big this could become. I'll keep everyone posted as things move forward.
  17. Thank you! I'm sure the list will be much longer as the fishing season gets going.
  18. It came out of an I/O boat, if that helps...
  19. That's cool you caught a fish during the inspection. Having the sticker beforehand might speed up the process.
  20. Either way, it won't be a big deal. I keep a book onboard with my copy of the inspection form, registration, insurance card, etc. I didn't have any violations during the inspection. I haven't seen our USCG board any boats around here anyway. Not saying it doesn't happen, just never saw it happen.
  21. Thanks for the great ideas and generous offers! I've been at work all day so I'm just getting caught up on the comments and feedback. I'll get with Gary Romig and see what we can put together. We really need to increase our OATH, Inc membership throughout NY State. If you are a veteran, or in the National Guard or Reserves, or you know someone who is, get them linked up with Gary Romig. As far as an OATH NY fishing derby, it might be best to run it as a summer event, with winners for June, July and August, with separate trout and salmon divisions. At the end of August we could announce an overall "OATH Summer Slam" champion team. The monthly winners and overall winners could get an 8x10 certificate, just to keep it simple the first year. Spreading it out over the summer will allow for OATH members who might be deployed for training or combat operations. It also keeps every boat owner and participant outside a specific "box" and allows for flexibility with weather and work schedules. This might also promote more participation than running a one weekend event. Boat owners would be responsible for weighing and/or measuring fish, and pictures of the fish caught and the OATH member or members who caught it. Just throwing some first initial thoughts out there, and open to ideas. Thanks again, you guys are awesome!
  22. This. I was told that OATH, Inc doesn't require you to be a charter captain to donate a fishing trip. OATH, Inc will still give you a form 501c3 to fill out for the donated fishing trip so that you can claim it on your income taxes, just the same as if you donated to any other 501c3 non-profit organization. Gary Romig is the best point of contact for OATH New York. I guess that makes me the second best POC
  23. It's another name for an OUPV charter captain license for a 6 passenger boat. http://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?unit=054-09&category=captains-license-info
