  1. Despite my conversations with 2 members of the Kayuta Lake Association Board as an aquatic biologist and employee of the DEC, they refused to accept that Tiger Muskys preferred pickerel as a prey source over bass in Kayuta Lake; even ignoring the evidence. Regardless, very large, thick tiger muskys were caught on Kayuta between 2011-2013 by trolling and using large (10 inch) sucker minnows over 5-8 foot SAV beds. Now the few which remain (probably 20-40 based on survival rates and harvesting of the original 500 stocked) would be all in the 42-46 inch range. The best lake now based on stocking rates and square acreage is North Lake in Forestport. Nearly 5000 fish are stocked each year in a lake which is only 307 acres. To put this in perspective, Otisco Lake gets 10,000 each year and is 2100 acres. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on your point of view, there is a small boat launch and getting more than a 16 foot boat on North Lake is very difficult. Regardless, North lake is an excellent Tiger Musky Fishery. There is another lake north of Boonville, Whetstone Reservoir, which is also excellent. Small lake, 10 foot max depth (not counting dam), high stocking rates and fish up to 48 inches.

    good info. Thank you
  2. Fished there for 6 hours today. Had one going at the boat early but no score. Only fish i saw. Clarity pretty good for there,5'or so. I fished from my kayak today. Sooner or later i will get this thing slimed. post-142867-14665536177484_thumb.jpgthere is a kayak launch on the lamoka side now. I used it on the way out. A waste of $ imo. Much easier to just pull it out on the grass.

  3. Fished here the past few days. First time here. If you want non stop action from Countless starving undersize pike and pickerel this is your lake. There is a lot of walleye trolling here. No boards or riggers, they all just troll slow with flatlines. I saw a few caught, all small. And i fell in yesterday.post-142867-14659552944886_thumb.jpgdoh!

  4. Nice fish Bill t. Like fishn ny i get my pics with a go pro. I turn it on once the fish is netted. Then i wave the fish around for ten seconds and release it. That ten seconds gives me 300 stills to pick from and i get my fish back in water faster than most. A nice tool but not cheap. I managed to outlive my mortgage and can afford crap like that. Good luck to all Sat. I hate crowds and will start Tuesday.

  5. post-142867-14641371534294_thumb.jpgi caught one small one with big boga damage. The poor thing's lower jaw was wrecked and had no big teeth.[emoji22]we did witness something cool. Fishing about 20 feet off a shale cliff we heard a commotion at the shoreline and some splashing. Two tigers were chasing a meal. A couple sunnies and a foot long brown swam up on shore to avoid being eaten. We chased off the tigers with our baits and after about 10 seconds the fish flopped back in and swam off close to shore. post-142867-14641377748999_thumb.jpggood time.
