  1. I may have interpreted information I've read but my understanding is that there is hardly any difference in how deep wire will get you VS braid while running dipseys. Besides flea problem with braid, which I find easy to deal, i don't believe there is much advantage to wire. I suppose the "sonic signature" mentioned by Chowder is a logical hypothesis but I've run both for many years and now strictly run braid due to convenience and my numbers never seemed to drop off. You may want to pick up a copy of the book at the link below- -I refer to it often when determining my spreads in all types of water bodies http://www.lakemichiganangler.com/store ... n_Book.htm
  2. Laker- fewer posts in the last few days MAY be attributed to the start of the LOC derby tomorrow. Not blaming anyone because I understand...hey we all have shot! Anyway, the fish are there out of Oswego. Somedays spotty it seems but I'm sure you know how quick spotty can turn to a blood bath from one day to the next, heck even one hour to the next. I'll be out of little salmon this weekend and expect to find fish somewhere....you should too. Good luck.
  3. My experience has led me away from fluorocarbon as leader on dipsies beacause of it's stiffness. Even with a snubber there is a lot of shock during the initial strike and dipsey release. Due to it's forgiveness and little more stretch I prefer #30 mono for my leaders. Have gone head to head with Mono and Fluoro and have not seen that Flouro makes any positive impact on number of strikes but have clearly noticed a pattern in fish lost due to break offs with Fluoro...saw a lot of aggressive strikes on Flouro result in immediate break offs (initial shock). Just my 2 cents.
  4. Yankee- Great report. What type of dipsey rings are those in your picture (green and pink)? Haven't seen those before. -RO
  5. Nice report. We fished the same area 6/26-6/27 with very similar results. Spotty but consistent this weekend. Lots of steelies and one 23LB king that took over 400 ft out on the first run. All very healthy fish.
