  1. 19' single spreaders (gold) wishbone bases (2 inch) & rigging. I'll be in Olcott Friday night-Sun and can bring them if someone wants to see them. $1000 Thanks.. Bob
  2. Great looking boat. Congratulations and good luck with her!
  3. Wal-mart carries the House Autry brand of fish breading. I've been using that for the last year or so. While its not a true "batter mix" the fished fish coating is a little more firm. Prior to this I was using the McCormics fish batter mix. The batter was good, but we liked it better if we used it dry as a breading without the beer mixed in. It was one of those critical decision one makes when there's only 5 or 6 beer left, and no one wants to run to the beer store while dinner is being prepared. The thought of pouring a beer into a bowl at the time just didn't make sense, and it turned out pretty darned good!
  4. A few guys I know are doing this over in Ohio that I know of. I see the benefit of doing it, but as is the case with me, if I started doing it, I'd put off the purchase of the new Raymarine combo unit with sirius weather that I have the hots for... I just can't let my wife see that there is "sensible" cost savings bone in my body when it comes to fishing gear. I just can't take that chance.
  5. -Never knew that. Thanks.
  6. You know, we have a good bit of the water fleas in Erie as well. I've discovered that if I put some tension on the line and flick the line with my finger, they all fall off. Ever try that?

Forgot about the lack of a fishing rod in that picture... Thats Alaska, the year before last. Sportsman's paradise like you can't imagine. This particular place has a lot of bears so the need for firepower is constant.

    Lets give this a try
  9. Ah, yes. Sorry if you thought I meant otherwise. 20# mono is what I think I'll be using. Thanks.
  10. Good info. Very helpful. Thank you. I've been using single strand wire for walleye off the boards the last couple of years. For me, it seems to be more trouble than its worth. A single kink can cost you a fish (and has). That copper must share the same qualities with it being softer than steel. I'll review my knots before I tie some up! Thanks again guys.
  11. Hi Ray, and thanks for the answer. Is mono preferred to braid? If so, why? Is it the small amount of stretch given vs. none for the braid? Thanks
  12. Well,.. decided to wade in... I'm mostly a Lake Erie walleye guy. This year, I'm going to give Ontario a try the first week of May. I'm going to replace the lines on my reels with the power pro 40/10lb. or the 30/10. diameter. The braids have served me well for walleye. There are very few topics discussing braid vs. mono here. I see that copper is the latest rage. Is there a reason I should consider using mono vs. braid? Should I look into the copper if I'll only be fishing a few days? I had to ask, because I've never heard of copper line until I visited this site. Thanks for any info.. Bob
  13. Hello everyone, New guyhere. I'm a Lake Erie walleye fisherman mostly but have to give Ontario a try. A friend turned me on to this site. I've got a 25' Carolina Classic that will get wet for the first time this season the first week of May. Not sure where in Ontario yet, but it will be Ontario. So, between now and then, I'll need to figure out what gear I'll need to properly attempt to catch some spring fish in Ontario. This site looks like a great resource.
