  1. I was wondering if anyone has tried this for wire dipsy set up ? Sevenstrand by sevalon. This braided 27lb. wire features 7 strands wrapped tightly together and coated with nylon making it durable and extremely flexible. Was thinking of trying it with a roller rod.Any thoughts or experiences with this would be helpful. Thinner than mono of the same lb. test.

  2. I ordered the 798c SI is on its way .With the price of gas. I might be doing more Walleye fishing On the small lakes. I thought the side imaging may work well for running planer boards.Does anyone know what the Navionics Bundle that it comes with consists of.Thanks Sean

  3. Thanks Billy I talked to you a little bit about this at the lotsa show.I can get a thru-hull transducer for a aluminum hull correct ? I kind of figured it didn't have enough power for the big lake.Do the HD units you mentioned have better base maps?

  4. I have the 595c combo. I haven't really decided if I like it or not.Last year I put in a 101 Terrova bow mount and put the 3 batteries towards the front of the boat.I had the transducer on the corner of the boat,to keep it away from the motors.Know I have been losing bottom when it gets choppy out, from the transducer coming out of the water. Then my friend that fishes with me sometimes is always playing with the settings.Last time out a couple of weeks ago I reset the defaults and it seamed better.I was fishing the Niagara and it didn't show the border on the base map.I found that disappointing.Even my handheld Garmin GPS. I use to use had that on it.I plan on getting a chip for it but you would think they would have an international border on it.I remember reading posts on here a year or two ago about other people having trouble losing bottom with there Humminbirds.Maybe you can do a search and find those post.Sorry I couldn't be more help.I need to do some adjusting to my setup if it doesn't come around I will be looking for something else. But I am not ready to say it's a bad unit.

  5. Thanks windburn I just looked at it sitting next to the computer and thought maybe it's coated rigger cable.Looked and saw your response.Never used the coated rigger cable so I really didn't think about it.Looks like good stuff.I will have to give it to my friend he runs a Moor speed and temp and was having coated cable issues last year.

  7. I Gave it a try today out of third creek after reading your report yesterday .First time fishing out Sodus in a couple of years.Fished in 31ft. with a small glow pimple.Switched between spikes and fatheads.Had to pick through the dinks but managed 15 keepers 9 to 12.5 inches. Caught more fish on the spikes, but better quality on the fathead.Fished from 12 to 5 .Marked fish the whole time. Thanks for the report Mike

  8. You guys can not go under ground with your posts. You have some great reports and info. There are so few reports of fishing on here in the winter months. You guys are one of the few on here that share in the winter, that make it worth while reading and posting.I haven't been setting any fishing records this winter, but when I have a little success I have been trying to share it.Whether it has been ice fishing or Niagara river fishing. With the price of gas it sure helps to have a little info.It is to costly to go somewhere new and get skunked.I do not fish the Finger Lakes for Trout and Salmon but I do love to read your reports. I would like to try Seneca for perch though. ;) but with the tight lip about that fishing I am reluctant .I do not have the time or money to go there 3 or 4 times to learn how to be successful. Please keep up with the great reports, and I will share what little I have. That is what makes this the great site it is.

  9. AS dremarquis said no permit required.I have fished Canadice like 6 times I have been batting about 50% have caught 3 and have had 3 or 4 swings and misses.I have marked fish every time.I have had best luck in the later part of the day 2:30 to 4:00.Caught 2 jigging 1 on tip-ups.I haven't been there real early. Usually don't get there till about 10 am.
