  1. having fished the thousand island region out of Alexandria Bay for 25 years, I suggest making sure you have a couple of the old traditional daredevil spoons in red and white and also green mepps spinners. These 2 baits have produced more pike action for me than any other. If your trolling program doesnt produce then go with a black bucktail jig tipped with a purple berkley gulp worm......sounds silly but believe me when the fish wont bite anything else this will trigger some strikes for ya. good luck and let us know how you do!
  2. unfortunately I have no skeg left so I am under the impression that it can be welded but honestly I have no idea. any thoughts?
  3. Does anyone know of a repairman in the Central NY area for Force outboards? I am in need of a new lower unit and cant seem to find any information online. Thanks
  4. They all came on Watermelon colored senko's. My son would rather fish than do anything else in the world. I guess it makes a difference when you start taking them at a young age.
  5. The shallow water Smallmouth and Largemouth action was great this weekend. The big guys have set up on their spawning beds and are quite fiesty! Took my 6 year old out to teach him how to fish with lures instead of live bait. All I can say is he is either a fishing prodigy or he had a great case of beginners luck. Caught about 10 Bass (Largemouth and Smallmouth) mostly on 5" Senkos fished weedless with a small bullett weight in front. Most of the action came on the west side of the highway in 5-10 FOW
  6. Is anyone having any luck finding Browns in the shallows lately? How about Walleye after wark on the shorelines? I'm heading out later this afternoon in search with my Father but I havent been out in a few weeks. He doesnt get down here much to fish with me so I am trying to get him into some action. Any help would be appreciated. If the Browns and Walleye are a lost cause at this point than I would gladly accept the recipe for any species you want to throw my way. Thanks everyone! Have a great Holiday Weekend!
  7. is there a decent place to launch? Any specific direction you can provide for some pike action?
  8. Anyone fish Cross Lake? I have never been and am looking for information about what species are present.
  9. Taking Monday off to fish and wondering if anyone has any suggestions for Crappies in the Syracuse area. Looking for a few slabs for the fry pan.
  10. we did ok, 4 for 4. 3 browns and 1 steelhead. Steelie and 1 brown in 10 fow and a doubleheader on browns in 45ft (one on flatline and one at 24ft). How was the turkey hunting? I decided to fish today and hunt tomorrow.
  11. nice batch of fish......going to give it a go in the morning tomorrow.
  12. Happy Easter Everyone! I've decided to take the day off tomorrow and launch the boat and I'm thinking about heading to Seneca for some of the great action that everyone seems to be having. I am looking for any information that will help to make my second trip to Seneca better than my first. Tried the lake last year in my 14' boat and it kicked my butt. Just got an 18' with an 8' beam so I think I will be able to manage the lake better. Any information regarding depth and lure selections as well as locations on the lake would be greatly appreciated. Either replys or PM's are fine. Thanks in advance for the help guys!
  13. lol.....that gives a new meaning to Jack Perch!
  14. Nice fish Kevin! I'd love the opportunity to get out there and learn something from ya.
  15. I started fishing black river bay in the spring a few years ago when I lived up there. Since moving to the Syracuse area I havent had a chance to get back up there. Man I have seen some beauties caught up there though. Always had the best luck with planer boards and worm harnesses up there in the shallows.
  16. Thanks again for all the help everyone. We are heading out shortly to see if I can put it all together and find the fish. It looks like it is going to be a nice day out there. Tight Lines Everyone! Ryan [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  17. I appreciate everyone's advice....the more the merrier! I always teach my son that fishing is about spending quality time together and catching fish is just a bonus. That being said, we always seem to catch fish so I've got to try to produce for him this time. Anyone planning on fishing in the St Lawrance in the thousand islnads region, just let me know and I will give you lots of good spots up there for Walleye and Bass. Thanks again, Ryan
  18. I'm spending the weekend (8/14-8/16) at a friends camp on the east side of the lake (near Lodi) and my 5 year old son and I are going looking for some fishing action. We are both avid fisherman but I have never fished Seneca Lake before. We are fishing in my 14 foot boat with down riggers. Any help that would make this a productive trip for my son would be greatly appreciated (areas to fish and lures to use). Thanks Ryan
