  1. When attaching your fly to the flasher, do you guys use a swivel or do you direct tie them to the flasher? Thanks
  2. Good luck everyone. Anyone going to be using a marine radio? If so what channel?
  3. Has the fishing picked up at all the past week? Not too many people have posted reports since the pro-ams. I'm thinking I'll be coming up on the 26th.
  4. If your going for a full day im sure you'll may get into something more than just some Mahi Mahi but they can get pretty big and are excellent eating. Pretty much all salt water fish i've caught have been scrapers. If you can get down into the golf steam or by the keys i think the Ahi and Marlin fishing is good, Wahoo as well. Hopefully your not out catching Spanish and King Mackeral all day. Good luck. Deep sea fishing is AWESOME!! If you do get into some Ahi you'll love it. Fresh Ahi is the best meat I've ever had. Make sure you try some as your cutting it up. Phenomenal! Make sure you give a report with some pics. I'd like to see how you guys did.
  5. Im new to lake ontario as some of you know. When people refer to the "Bar" what area is it exactly? I know its around the red can but can someone describe the actual bar better? Thanks
  6. The cannon rod holders look like they are the easiest to adjust. Thats why I was really considering the cannon system. I too would like everything to match. Are the tracks all the same where you can interchange the different make rod holders?
  7. I was thinking of changing up my rod holders and going to a track system. The cannon system looks really nice. I also see that Berts are pretty popular. Are there any advantages that any of the track systems have over the other? Thanks for any input!
  8. Just to let you guys know, the lake is going to be awful this year. I was on it last night and the weeds a ridiculous already. The past two years haven't been so bad but this year is looking ugly. It's been a while since i've read this tread and i just skimmed through the last few posts, Is there 150 people in this tournament now? How is the prize structure now, still the same?
  9. Well i got a good taste of what king salmon fishing is about with the first trip. Let me tell ya, I'm HOOKED!! I may just have to give it another shot on the weekend of the 12th or the following weekend.
  10. I know where the smoke stack is. Cant miss that. Is the Olcott area where most of the fishing is done during the summer? I launched out of Fort Niagara 2 weeks ago and out of Wilson yesterday. So I'm now familiar with the red can to Wilson.
  11. Tbromund, The Red barn and the Microwave? huh?? Help me out here bud.
  12. Well I made the trip yesterday. Wow, what a difference from two weekends ago. This is only my second time fishing salmon and on Lake O. It was tough yesterday. I guess I'll wait to hear some good reports before i make the trip again. All we caught was 1 small Coho. But hey that's how fishing goes. I had a feeling we wouldn't have much luck from reading the reports. From the conversations over the radio and talking to other boats at the launch, no one really did anything great. On the brighter side of things, I got to enjoy myself out on the boat with two good buddies. It was awesome out yesterday. Also explored some new water, so I'm learning the Wilson/ Fort Niagara area a little more. Cant wait for those Kings to come back!!!
  13. I've heard that they leave in june. Im a newbe so i dont know much about salmon fishing. Where do they go in June, west? Why does it get so good again in july? Would love to know these things.
  14. Really? It's that bad out there? Should i just not even bother? It is a 2 hr drive for me. When does it turn back on, July? I'd hate to drive up there for some poor fishing. I may just walleye fish in Barcelona bay on Erie then. I'd really like to get some more kings this weekend!
  15. I plan on coming up for the day on Saturday with a couple buddies. Should i try the Fort Niagra/ Wilson area or should i head to olcott? I've heard the bigger fish are up more towards Olcott, is this ture? Thanks for any help!
  16. I'm leaving tonight and will be fishing all day tomorrow. I have a smaller boat and don't think i can get out as far as Billy V's reports. I was also told that Wilson has been slow the past couple days. Should i head to Ollcott? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  17. How far back should i tie the fly from the flasher? Should i use fluoro leader material?
  18. I ordered the "brother" . Figured it would be good for musky crank baits and could be used for walleye as well.
  19. I'm making a trip up in may for sure. Not sure the day, but i figure it out. My boat isn't that big so i'll have to watch the weather and come up on a whim.
  20. It's been a couple years since i pulled out my dipseys, but if i remember correctly they have a swivel on both ends. Do you guys put another swivel on the end of the leader when running spoons or flasher/flies? Also wondering if i should use a fluoro leader off my downrigger rods for spoons and flasher/flies as well or can i just use the mono thats on my rods directly to the lure?
  21. well i ordered a set of z boards last week from the z board website. Anyone know how long it usually takes to get them?
  22. Tim, Is may better than July? Are the fish usually shallower/Deeper in may or is it the same?
