  1. Well i did buy a few spoons and ordered a couple flasher/fly combos from Atomik. I didn't know what was available in that area for bait shops. Im coming up July 9th. The week before is the 4th and im sure thats got to be a busy week. I'd hate to get up there and have the shops cleaned out so i figured get a few things now. I'll defiantly shot you a PM before i come to see whats HOT!

When does the king salmon start getting good in Wilson/Olcott? I'm only 2 hrs away, i may have to try and make a trip before July 9th. All this talk and info is getting me psyched to hook into a monster king!!

  2. Tony,

not so much for kings other than right now in the early spring. Chasing steelhead offshore, deep diving cranks are a possiblility bus summer kings are pretty much a spoon and flasher fly bite.

I keep my boat docked in Olcott for the season. PM me when we get closer to the time you're coming up and I'll let you know what's going on. If it works out, maybe even get you guys out on my boat early into your trip and show you the ropes.

    Tim,

I will do that for sure. Thanks for the offer!!

  3. Sure we do. However, a 10 color is only good to about 50ft.

thats ture. from what im gathering, you usually fishing from60 - 100 ft deep in 80 - 150 f.o.w. and core wouldn't be sufficient. It sounds like im better off to skip the planer boards and just adjust my dipsys to run out the sides. Or is there a better way to get my lures down off the planer boards?

Does anyone ever use and crank baits? What speeds should i troll with the flasher flies and spoons?

Also wondering, how far back should i send the flashers and spoons back behind the boat?

I really appreciate all the info guys!

  4. Flasher Flys! Stop and fish the 80-150' area if they aren't there or have lockjaw head off shore and find them out there mixed in with the Steelies. Olcott/Oak Orchard area that time of year can be very productive. Don't hesitate to put some spoons in the mix. Greens are always a good bet.

When you run the flasher flys do you just flat line them off the pole? Down riggers, jet divers? lead core with spoons? What depths do you want the lures running when fishing 80 - 150'?

Basically i have 2 downriggers, a set of inline planers, dipsys and jet divers. What would be a good set up for the gear i have?

    Also wondering about trolling speeds.

  5. has anyone mounted a kicker on a Sea Nymph ss175? the transom seems to only have room for the 70 hp that on there. I was thinking of using a kicker mount but i dont think i can access the inside where i would have to place the nuts on the bolts. i will try to put some pictures up. The boat is getting a new cover made right now and is not in my possession so im not totaly sure about not being able to get inside the wall but almost positive. Also wondering if i would need a long shaft.

  6. What year is the sea king? I guess it really doesn't have to be a johnson/evinrude. Originally i was thinking johnson because of the fuel conection. But my motor is a Johnson VRO and i dont think i can use that fuel line on a kicker. i think i would have to have a small tank with pre mixed fuel for the kicker. How much do you want for the sea king? do you have pictures?
