  1. what would u guys do? would you purchase a newer smalller boat lets say a 22-25 footer maybe a sportscraft or trophy, or would you look for a older solid boat like a 26-31 footer like a baha or trojan. i have always had smaller boats up to 22 feet but looking for something bigger. i like how the larger boats have inboards leaving you more back deck compared to the I/O jjust loking for some advice thanks
  2. Looking for insight on late model Baha boats. I see there is one for sale on the board and just wondering if any owners on here or previous owners can fill me in as to the overall quality, fit and finish, ride, ease of operation, construction. Does anyone know of any faults with the Ford 351 Cleveland inboards? I have been looking at newer Sportcrafts in the 25 foot range but all the deals seem to have gone south. I am interested in the 1989 Baha weekender for sale on the board and just looking for your input. -What is the mechanical advantage of having a complete inboard with transmission compared to a I/O??? -How long do fiberglass boats last if well cared for??? This boat is going on 21 years old how much life is left in her?? I would like to buy a boat and have it last for at least 5 years without loosing my shirt on it. Its either I find a smaller newer boat like a late ninety early 2000, or buy a bigger older boat. Im confused.
  3. do you guys think the new hummingbird 1157 or 1197 is compatible with an autopilot system? owners of the 1157 or 1197, do you find having the cannon link a benifit to your style of fishing. can you adjust on the fly your riggers. currently we run back and forth from helm to rigger when spotting fish up top or down low. and insight to the new hummingbird units will be appreciated. thanks, steven
  4. the boat is going to live on lake ontario. only uses will be salmon fishing and the ocasional joy ride with the wife. i intend to put a new 4-stroke kicker on the back to help with fuel economy. there will be days i might have to run 40 plus miles to get to decent fish but thats fishing. i have had outboards my whole life and love them but i also know first hand that when something goes on the new computerized outboards your wallet bleeds green. nothing beats a gas guzzling v-8. parts and maintanence are cheap and if you have mechanical knowledge on engines half the work can be done yourself WITH A CLYMERS MANUAL OR SOMETHING SIMILAR THANKS
  5. Well guys thanks for all the help. I have narrowed it down to a 2001 sportcraft 252 sportfish. with a 5.7L bravoIII dual stainless prop, 200 hrs, w/ trailer for around 22,000 USD. from all the digging i believe its a good deal. I will be looking for a certified marine surveyor in the area to look over the boat if that goes well i will be a proud owner of a new boat. wish me luck
  6. So far i like the response from you guys. Ill be picking up the material this weekend and should have a couple of sets done for mid week. Ill post pics once they are done. Shouldn't be long. Thanks guys Steve

  8. Hello guys, I have been fishing lake o for many years from my Lund Pro V with no issues. i sold my boat to my father inlaw recently and im in the market for a new boat. i need your advice as to what type of boat is superior on the water for rigging only as well as a family friendly boat. over the years i have seen more and more 21 to 26 foot walk arounds like TROPHY and STRIPER is this the boat of choice ? i have around $35000 to spend. all the advice would be great. i would like a small cuddy and possibly just leave it in the water all year. Also, i have never owned a I/O (inboard/outboard? boat before. is it possible to hook up a kicker to a I/O and have steering at the helm? I have been looking at the Bayliner Trophy and Seaswirl stripers and there are some decent deals in the states just never rode in one nor fished from one to have an opinion. I appreciate all the replies, thanks
