  1. I been picking crawlers every night this week... dont know if the bullheads are biting yet, but there's only one way to find out.... go out and get a couple dozen crawlers in 20 minutes....

  2. Grew up in the area and Cross Lake is notorious for iffy ice. In addition to the river current there are also some springs in the lake that keep the ice from really forming. Most locals in the area fish Otter Lake that is close by. I would be very careful about venturing out on Cross and think twice about bringing my kids with me. Just my two cents.

Otter is a great place to target crappies, and using pike shiners can land you some huge LM bass...alot of fun those LM

  3. Most people dont like revealing their hotspots due to overcrowding.... but there are a ton of public fishing places on Onieda... just bring your waders and some blue/black Thundersticks and follow the crowds, ....you'll catch fish...

  4. I've been reading your posts and wanted to say nice buck...., and glad to see other people from Cayuga county heading to Onieda to pick up a few meals... its like a guy from Southern tier going up North to oportunize on a early muzzy season (or whatever...) I love them Onieda eyes... I work second shift so I only get out there on the weekends, usually with my stepkid...but heres what we got so far... dont mean to hijack your thread, but just trading picks without starting my own thread....

  5. Sorry to hear that your son can not live the good life "out in the sticks".... I was stationed in Jacksonville, FL... lived in Houston,TX,. and Greenville,SC both with EX girlfriends... but came home, because I needed the four seasons, and this is where I was born...

I have recently bought my first house in a very rural area,(at 34) and thank the lord every time I think of some of the "city life" that I experienced for nearly 10 years....may your son come home to where he was born and bred, and not have to worry about gangs, and etc......Jeff

  6. What is their job? If they are looking to write tickets, go where the most people are. Sorry, our time & money need to be spent the most efficient way possible from here on out. Burning gas & putting hrs on an expensive motor ain't to me. Troopers patrol where property & people are.Sherriffs & Boarder patrol are out there to take care of security. Not much going on 10 miles off shore.Walk the pierheads or go up the creek . More bang for my & our buck. Check me when I come in. It's a joyride.

our Government is crying poverty, and theyre burning that kind of gas to check one or two boats, doesnt add up.... you hit the nail on the head, Law of Averages....go where the people go in and out of ports

  7. if the fees go up again this year, I probably wont be buying a supersportsman... just the fishing

I contiplated last year, but $100 (with doe permits) wasnt the end of the world, but this trend of upping every year will get people to think twice, ...

now I may have to think of a new screenname :@
