i think this ones the biggest of the year so far

went out to the pond and caught a few largemouths and some close to if not state record rock bass. Largest bass hit a zoom super fluke and was approx 3 lbs

yep article was very good

b/c of the rain the browns should still be shallow

also browns come close in b/c of the warm runoff

Realy thinkin bout fishing here dis weekend

sounds like the job of a topwater frog

im thinkin of fishin them soon...

Went out friday afternoon and finally found the prespawn bass and was able to hook up 3 nice largemouths with a couple rock bass thrown in. Did much the same as wednesday, fishing weedlines, reeds, and breaks in the reeds. Best fish of the night came at about 7:30 on a fluke in fairly heavy cover in a nice pocket in the reeds, taking a slow twitching presentation. The bass seem to be stacked up in pockets and coves as well as breakes on the reedline, hitting hard and taking the lures deep. My first bass even took a fluke topwater The key for me was making good casts to pockets and banging off and aroung cover. My biggest bass in the pic below was approx. 2.5 lbs and 16-18 inches.

very nice, gotta love those bass outa the yak. i also wrote a report from wednesday where i was fishing my fav. pond connected to lake O' only accesable via kayak and got some nice bass. its on the board called fishing reports (south shore)...

i created a new way to connect the two and it seems to work great and is easy. first, i create a clinch knot with 1 of the lines but dont cinch down, leaving a loop. then i connect the second line to the loop created with another clinch knot, cinching both knots down on eachother. they seem to tightnen on eachother, creating a strong connection. i leave a little tag end and put a dab of super glue on the Knot, and rolling it in my fingers when its partially dry to push down the tag ends and create a smaller, stronger knot that goes through guides easily. I dont know how this compares with the others, but it has been working great for me without having any problems

I managed to get the yak out wednesday with georgous weather and the lake and pond like glass. Fished the circumfrence of the pond, drifting and casting to the reed line as well as stumps, timber, ect. twitchin retreival produced some very nice LM bass, all 2-3 lb.+ with 2 dogfish (oversized carp with rows of huge and sharp teeth) taking the fluke. The fish seemed to be concentrated very close if not in the cover, often stacked up on points, broken reeds, or small coves/breakes on the weedline. Most of the bass shook off, jumped off, or ran into the heavy cover b/c of the light line i was using but put up good fights. I got 1 of the dogfish to the boat, easily 30 inches and 10-15 lbs. but had to break off due to teeth i dont wanna mess with in a yak. Most exciting hookup of the night happened after i tossed the fluke into some floating pond scum on the edge of a broken reed line where a huge bass created a nice wake and blew up on the fluke before spitting the hook. Even without boating it, it was the highlight of the night. Thursday was a little choppy and windy for the yak but i will be looking to head out friday afternoon. will post pics of what happens on the next kayak bass trip

on my yak, i have 3 rod holders, 2 in front and 1 in the back with bout a 15 ft spread which is good for trolling. usually put deeper lures like spoons in back of me cuz they go deeper and then shallower stickbaits off the sides. I also point the 2 rod holders in fron perpendicular to the yak and the back 1 directly backwords. Also check out www.fishgator.ning.com which is the western NY kayak fishing association for good tips
