Use a small peice of alum. angle(1/8" thick ,3/4" - 1" wide) bolted (2) across the front of the handle. Mount your ball joint up/down & your set to go.

Just installed a new Elite 7 HDI but it will randomly turns itself off. I can turn it right but on but then have to reboot it like starting all new again. (everytime I turn it on) it does not seem to save anything. I have heard that the Elite 5 has this problem also. Lowrance has an update but that does'nt seem to work either. Does anyone have this problem and a way to solve it ? Thanks advance.

Let us know how you do.

Last reports from last week about night catches. Not much going on during the day yet. Plus too much wind and waves lately.

Try cleaning all the connections, even inside the switches(take apart) & clean the contacts.

Try k - 100 in tank

I did the JB weld thing as instructed & it did not work/last. I know guys that used the Alum. sticks where you heat the spot/crack with a torch & apply the alum. stick & it worked great. I forgot what they are called but you see them at the fairs.

Thanks guys! I'll be checking all grds. & connections.

Just installed a new Lowrance Elite 7 HDI fishfinder/chart/gps. On the sonar I get alot of vertical "static lines" on the screen & was told it might be bad grounds in the boat. The faster I go the worst it gets. It is worst when I am using the trolling motor than with the main motor . My question is where does one start looking for bad grds. & where is the main grd found on a boat? Any good ideas? Thanks!

I've met folks that know it all, and I usually try to put a couple zip codes between me and them.............
Pa, always said, " Its what they learn after they know it all that counts!"

Pic added, took some figuring out for an old fart! May never happen again lol. Thanks for the wait.

These are older painted steel channels with the rollers between the channel. Thanks, pics are coming soon.

Where are you located and do you a have pic? Located in Lancaster NY. Don't have a pic (not sure how to) but they are like I said 36" x 5" & the rollers are 2" in dia.. I will try to do the pic thing but it won't be before Sat. Thank you

Anyone ever try using the steering linkage/ball joints off the front of an old riding lawn mower for steering your trolling motors? They work. Also when my linkage rattled I used a peice of hose tightened down over the studs, that works too!

Sounds like not enough oil. Use more oil, its better/cheaper to have a smoke cloud & change plugs more often then to seize the motor or burn out a piston. jmo.

If you are doing the lower gear case, drain out, fill from the bottom hole up to the top hole, replace the top plug first & then the replace bottom plug. clean up mess!

Gotcha. Oh we'll, I'm sure I can find something else to blow $200 on for my boat. It's not hard!! Lol
You could put your $200 towards a new 4 stroke then you can buy the new throttle control! lol

Motor is a little too short. Trying to sell this one and get a longer one. Boat ran great!
FYI, there are a couple of long shaft 15 hp for sale on Buffalo craigs list

Nice perch, looks like the same pic/pose as last year! If I remember rite or was the boat facing the other way? lol

Nice fish! Hows the boat running for you? What happened to that nice trolling motor you got ? Going with a trolling plate instead? We didn't mount the winch on the trailer yet.

JMO but watch out for the Elite 7 HDI, I am on my forth one.. Glad I took out the extended warranty! They appear to have a soft ware problem!
