  1. ive heard some guys talk about filling the gas tank before winterizing to keep condensation from building up in the tank. ive also talked to guys who say to run it down and put fresh gas back in in the spring. whats best? i have a 60 gallon aluminum tank(i think). thanks, mark

fished in front of the salmon river. started outside the fleet in 70FOW and worked in to 60FOW. hooked one king in 65FOW on a dipsy out 135' on a 2 setting, immediately hooked another on the rigger that came off. plenty of marks in 50-60FOW of water up high. fish were in 25-40' down but couldnt get them to bite. lots of boat activity in there. swung out to 90FOW and marked a few pods. had one nice hit on a mag spoon but came unbuttoned. worked hard for our 3 bites. best, mark

  5. launched out of long point on saturday in the morning. fished the west side in the 350' range. hooked several average size lakers and a couple small salmon just north of sheldrake. ended up running down to milliken and worked in around 220FOW. Lots of good size lakers on the screen down in the 70-90' range but couldnt get them to bite. Lots of weeds and debris down there.....ended up going back out in the afternoon with some family members for a boat ride on the north end. Went over to the west side to get out of the wind and started marking a ton of stuff so i put a few rods out. Ended up with a real nice rainbow, several salmon including a couple keeper size(released) and a couple nice lakers. All over a 2hr period in the evening. 75-90FOW, tons of bait. 48 and 62 down on the riggers, all spoons, 3 1/2" chicken wing stinger, green yeck, nothing on sliders, one hit on dipsy. Lots of marks on screen. Fished same area last night and went 7 for 9, mix of lakers and salmon, one tiny brown, one tiny rainbow and no fish over 2 lbs! does that still count as a grand slam?! things change so quickly, wonder if the full moon has anything to do with it. some of the small fish we did get were spitting up bait but the larger fish seemed to have vanished. best, mark

  6. rolmops, i like your idea. i know my otter boats pull like crap and wouldnt help although the homemade jobbys would probably help. never thought about dipsies helping. i dont fish by myself with my penn yan but i do fish alone in my 16' starcraft which has a tiller motor. its nice having everything at the back of the boat but with all that weight in the back it seems like i can do a quick uturn just setting up a rigger. runs much truer with one guy in the bow. what size boat do you run? best, mark

  7. fish, evil eye glow spoons. 6' leader, couple splitshot. 50-75' flatlined until you start getting some weeds on the line(within 2-3' of bottom). be super stealthy in the boat and work outside the mouth and the breakwall when the weather allows. dont go on the weekend and dont go out till at least 11pm or midnight. alot of times 3-5am is hot! best, mark

  8. ive had good luck running 2.5-2.8 mph SOG GPS speed for kings this year. is this a good average speed for kings? i dont have a probe so i dont know my down speed. had a couple guys in the boat recently that thought that was too fast but its a normal speed for me. just curious what other guys run for speed. thanks alot, mark

  9. i tried snubbers last year and didnt like them. i seem to lose more fish with them. i have braid divers with 50# power pro. i had a friend in the boat yesterday that is used to fishing snubbers. we hooked a nice king and he grabbed the rod and gave it a roland martin hookset and broke the leader between the dipsy and flasher. thats the first one ive ever broke off. do most guys use snubber for kings? thanks, mark

  10. i have a few accudepth pro rods that i purchased from basspro. ive broken two of them this year. they were new last summer and have not been abused at all. im careful with all my gear. i didnt high stick them either. the first one broke when i tripped a dipsy. i just reeled down and gave it one quick snap coming up no higher than 10 o clock. ive done it this way many other times with no problems. the other broke when i was popping a planer board release on my leadcore rod. also had a friend break the same model rod last fall tripping a dipsy. both rods broke in the same place, 4 inches from the end of the male ferrule. anybody else have any problems with these rods? i have a couple left but dont plan on buying any more. also have okuma classic glt's and shimano tdr's and havent had any problem with them. thanks, mark
