Is that a boat in pic #3? Hats off to him. My boat isn't mobile as I wouldn't make it back up my driveway now. You guys that live up there are very lucky.

I don't think many people target kings with stick baits. We catch some kings in the spring while fishing browns with sticks but the kings will often tear stick baits apart. I have several sticks with the back half missing to prove it.

My two most recently purchased Convectors have terrible drags. Don't know why they are different than older ones.

If I knew then what I know now.

So where are they getting that data?

Try plastic squids. They don't fall apart and are cheap. Big weenie uses them on a lot of their rigs they sell.
+1 I've used both squid and flies and honestly don't see any different catch rate.

I lived in a "Village" at one point. The neighbors were anal about everything and I actually witnessed the couple across the street crawling around their yard on their hands and knees finding and pulling weeds one at a time. It drove them nuts that I had dandelions in my yard. I didn't do anything to kill them off because I don't handle anal types well. Now I can't see a neighbor from my house and life is good.

Guys/gals - take a look at this article from Michigan DNR. I was going to put out feed corn myself thinking I am doing them a favor, but it looks like it could be harmful.
Be safe and stay warm out there,
Chris
I've seen this before and I'll guarantee that they have not only survived but thrived. If that wasn't the case, there wouldn't be any to feed.

I feed from December through April in PA. I enjoy seeing them and I'm sure I've helped them make it through some difficult winters. I don't know what regs apply and don't really care.

Good one Big Water and thanks Hop.
Its all ok. I always believed that youth was about the beauty of the body and age was about the beauty of the mind!

The remainder are Geneva Spoons my grandfather used pulling copper from a row boat on Seneca Lake back just after the turn of the century (about 1910 or so) and he lived in Geneva.
Now you're showing your age. The turn of the century is 2000. I know the feeling.

Saw this post on GLA. There were a couple of times last year that I was thinking of trying this with my TR1 but I had my wife with me and it was rough enough that she was ready to go in. Maybe in a tournament or with the guys it would be worth a try, especially since I already have the TR-1 and it works great except in extreme conditions where the kicker can't keep up.

Just my insight

reply by HONDAM:
This is true, all the TR-1 does is maximize the potential of the kicker. If the kicker is to small to do the job in the conditions no matter how good the driver is it wont help. We had a TR-1 paired with an 8hp Honda on our 24ft Hewescraft tournament boat for a couple years before switching back to the cat. There was a time or two where we were fishing and the waves started well over 6fters and the kicker started struggling but what we did was start up the main motor and put it in gear (no tie bar just sitting there straight) just to help with some extra thrust to get up those big waves and it all worked up fine with the autopilot still steering the boat.
That's interesting and it actually occurred to me at some point, but I never tried it.

My boat is set up with 2 - 135hp outboards and a 9.9 kicker. Presently the kicker is controlled exclusively by a Garmin TR-1 AP. I'm thinking about replacing the TR-1 with a Garmin GHP20 to control the main engines for when I get into situations where the kicker can't control the boat because of bigger waves. Any concerns with the GHP20 controlling 2 outboards AND the kicker which would now be tied into the large engines via a tie bar?

Just saw the strangest thing on WFN. Guy had two 300 hp outboards on his center console and was maneuvering them and they were turning opposite directions. The port outboard was turning toward the port and the starboard toward the starboard, What is this about????? How are they steering independently?

So if I run my spin doctor 2000' behind the dipsey, I should be able to watch it fly out of the water on every rotation. . Chris is right, the rotation will be the same as 6-8' back.

I don't know about the slime but have always wondered why they never show them rigging the baits. Is there a trade secret or do they think it could be offensive to some.
