  1. Mike, Tell your brother congrats! Nice way to catch your first one (on a figure 8 ) . I read of dudes catching fish that way, never had it happen to me. Zach, Looks like a true hog to me, nice job...I am coming over right now to get those lures!!!!!
  2. Yup Zach, that sounds like a real good time.....thanks for sharing! I do like the hook stories, especially the good ones (like Capt. Larry's). I have ALOT of respect for the hooks on our lures, especially when they are attached to the fish we are after.....
  3. Larry, that sounds painful, to say the least. Were you gunshy after that incident? I had something similar happen to me (didn't need surgery) and I will never pick up a fish with the hooks still in the mouth. It was very nice of you to take your doc out fishing!!
  4. Larry, that sounds painful, to say the least. Were you gunshy after that incident? I had something similar happen to me (didn't need surgery) and I will never pick up a fish with the hooks still in the mouth. It was very nice of you to take your doc out fishing!!
  5. (Zach) Saw you out there on Fri. Wanted to say "hi" but you looked like a man on a mission...glad to see you changed your "moto". You are as good as musky fishing as the Saints are at winning!! (to all) Musky fishing for Aug. was as tough as it gets (for summer fishing anyways). Does anyone know how algae blooms effect muskies, seems as though something had them shut off most/all of the time. Waneta surface temp was mid to upper 80's for a while (yikes!). Those toothy guys don't like it too much when it is that high (some fish took more than 30-40 mins. to revive). Capt. Larry, I am intrigued by your surgery story, was it fishing related? Or was it carpel tunnel (sp?) from all of those years fishing. Will be around Thurs- Sun for a memorial tourney, maybe we'll bump into one another. Later dudes!!
  6. Z-Well good luck, wherever you end up.....If you are at the big pond, give me a holla!! Nitro, the weeds/grass or anything else floating has made me want to put on my downrigger....It is constant cleaning of the poles (even when they are dipped)....Z-did you get my e-mail of the "Great White Fisherman"....what a d-bag....sorry, I had to say it...
  7. Z - I will be down on Thurs/Fri as well, maybe we will run into each other (how bout breakfast Fri. mid AM).....if you need some denero for lures, let me know...I will bring it with me...later
  8. Thanks again for the info. It is very helpful! Sounds like I would be better off reselling these guys and buying some rockets...BTW struggled mightily this trip. What is everyones consensus on why the bite has fallen off a cliff?
  9. Thanks for the info guys.....Some of what was said went flying at 5G's over my head...I am going to try them and see how they do...maybe they will end up on the wall instead...
  10. Anyone ever use the Terminator (Rocketman) musky lure? I just bought a couple on E-bay (they weren't cheap). Any feedback would be appreciated.....
  11. No offense, but I am glad it wasn't just me. Fished Thursday, Friday and part of Sat. and Sun. I NEVER boated a fish. I had some chances but lost one trolling and had bites casting. Was starting to think that the musky mojo was gone. That was a TOUGH strech. Anyways, good to hear the updates and good luck to everyone this week/weekend. Back to the "grind" later this week. Zach, looking forward to the new "z-man" lures....let me know if I can be of any help..
  12. Nice Zach, hopefully I have half as much luck as you did. BTW, the "red lowe guy" is Mike S. He is a nice gentleman who lives on the lake. I think he needs a new tape measure though (jusk like someone else we know). Did anyone see the article about the professional bass angler who got caught stuffing bass with weights? http://www.grindtv.com/outdoor/blog/194 ... community/
  13. Here is a question for everyone here.... assuming everyone has fished Waneta and Chautauqua, which body of water has the bigger average fish (maybe one doesn't have a bigger average)? So, if you caught 10 fish from each lake, what would be the average size in your opinion. Musky Lips (my experience) Waneta-36 Chautauqua-37
  14. Thank you, your fish looks bigger!
  15. Howdy! So we should try some firetiger hah???? Sounds like a good idea to me. I would bet that Z-man does have some in his box, that is his favorite color! We will be down there Thrus. thru Sun. to try our luck. Maybe we'll run into somebody...
  16. I am assuming that is the lake we won't mention (I like all of this secretiveness, don't know if it is working or not). Very impressive Zach...You are a rare breed. I admire your persistence and determination. We don't take fish out of the water that are under 40". Anything over 40 we want pics so we have to take them out for a short time (less than 20 sec.). We have always hand landed these fish (meaning get your hand in there and then remove the hooks). Well after what happened a few weeks ago, I will never put my hand near those hooks again. My net is my friend. My fishing partner Bill will always hand land. I think he has been to the hospital no less than twice for imbedded barbs...Sometime when I am not boring you to sleep, I'll share a good "Bill" and the embedded hook story with you. Your injury sounded fairly extensive....did you need stitches? BTW....we are leaving tomorrow morning around 9 AM and will be there till Sat. morning (probably take off once the good ol recreational boaters have their way)..Maybe I will meet one of you in the near future... J
  17. Ah, I feel slightly dumb.....sounded like you were talking about this guy I knew....BTW, do any of you guys hand land??? Lets share horror stories...
  18. Well, not quite 3 days....we usually average about 20-22 hours of fishing for thurs. and fri....Sometimes overlapping into Sat. (I will be there this Sat.) My friend's (Bill) place is on Shorewood or the West side south of the points. I do have a very understanding wife and daughter, hopefully it stays that way By the way, the Bob Weir you were talking about, did he work for GSK pharma. ??? My wife worked with a guy by the same name, he was a drinker too.... alright Sol,you've been outed! so what so you have to say for yourself??? c'mon, come clean! ????
  19. Seriously, we eat like kings when we are down there.....Good news is, we usually burn off all of those calories later...Would love to shoot the poop with any and all of you...If you ever care for a meal (maybe not quite as good as the Inn), let me know... I have the 18' tracker w/o pedestal seats....J P.S. Ever see musky douche on here.... I received an e-mail from a member of Musky Inc....(niagra) and this guy (I won't say his real name) gave an update from a couple of weekends ago...if anyone wants it, that hasn't seen it, let me know....
  20. I don't know if this is a forum or just a place to go for musky addicts. Kinda like a muskies anonymous. Anyways, I live in Chili (not too far from most of you). I usually venture down to "the lake we won't mention" every Thurs. for a couple of days during the season. One of the guys I work with has a cottage there, which is nice because you don't have to sleep in your boat . We have been doing this for about 7 years now and absolutely look forward to it each and every week. If you are ever there Thurs. (after dark) or Friday morning I will be more than happy to cook a meal for all of us (I am the cook usually) .....I know I have seen some if not all of you from time to time... Jamie
  21. The other hilarious thing you mentioned is "king of the lake we won't mention".......This guy is GREAT!!! He fishes out of season and usually has more than the legal number of rods, exaggerates on the number and size of fish (I don't know about you guys but I will usually not tell the truth either but it is the other way) and likes to cut people off.....as you may already know, he is a complete egomaniac....We refer to him as "musky douche".... just thought it was funny some of you know him as well.....
  22. Great fish, looks to be near the North end of the lake that won't be named.....I am very impressed with the people on this forum. Good to hear other fisherman that are humble and also knowlegable about these great fish. Zach, you are a complete nut (I mean that in a good way)!! I feel like a sissy after seeing you with a sleeping bag and lantern. Look forward to meeting all of you in the future.......
