  1. I know that trolling is the favorite technique for salmon and I have done it for years with varying degrees of success. Just wondered if anyone ever tried drifting with a big (1 or 2oz) jig or bigger. I would think a jig made to look like some of these flies that are run behind the big paddles would get a hit if the right motion or jigging style was used. Anyone ever try this? Seems like it would be a hoot to feel a king try and rip the rod out of your hands while drifting. Any comments or suggestions are welcome!
  2. I have a 1977 140hp Johnson motor for sale. It does not have tilt and trim. I ran it in early December and it ran fine, I then replaced it with a 140hp Evinrude that has trim and tilt. No controls or wiring with the motor. contact Steve 315 573 1373 Sodus Point NY

  4. Search for Missing Fisherman By: Sheba Clarke Search for Missing Fisherman Search crews with the U.S. and Canadian coast guards are assisting Wayne County authorities with a search for a 66-year-old Sodus Point man who went fishing with a friend around 10 a.m. Monday. According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, around 10:30 a.m. Monday the boat the two men were riding in capsized. Both men clung onto the side of the boat until one of the men had some sort of heart attack. Authorities said he did have a previous heart condition. The other man was able to cling onto boat for more than four hours until a nearby fisherman spotted him, pulled him out of the water, and called for help. Police said that man, who is from Williamson, is recovering from hypothermia. “Windy day, the winds are quite strong, with a small vessel, aluminum, in this case, a 16-foot aluminum boat can get tossed around pretty easy and overturned rather easy depending upon what’s happening on board,†said Bob Hetze with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. “Our information at the time was that neither one of them had floatation devices on. It’s the law that float devices are worn November 1st.†Hetze says the searching will continue until dark and if necessary, will begin again Tuesday morning.
  5. They must be coming in all the bays now. I have heard good reports from Braddocks also.
  6. 3 guys 6 hours 83 keepers Nice day on the bay but you better be dressed for it, cold and cloudy with a constant breeze made it uncomfortable.
  7. Got out this afternoon for a few hours. Picked up 21 nice perch, all 10 to 14 inches. Only a few small ones this time. Fished the south end of Eagle Island and along the east side of the bay south of Connelly's Cove.
  8. Seems to me that if everyone knew the rules of the road there would be far less problems. When passing another vessel pass port to port, this gives any boat headed east along the south shore the inside line.

    Sodus Bay

I noticed today that the bay was covered with ice. I wouldn't think its safe to go out on yet.
  11. Spent between 3:00 and 6:30 searching the bay for perch. Finally found them along the east side of the bay in 12 to 15 FOW at the edge of the weedbeds. From 5:00 to 6:30 we caught 20 keepers on fatheads and jigs.
